Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 119 - Furious Revenge
Tang Jie spent an hour concocting the antidote that could treat Li Feifei’s father’s illness and decided to call her the next day to tell her about it.
At that thought, Tang Jie suddenly remembered something troubling. Li Feifei had not attended classes for two days, which he found odd. A bad premonition suddenly hit him, prompting him to call her immediately.
It took a long time for the call to connect, and as soon as Li Feifei heard Tang Jie’s voice, she burst into tears. She told him that she was at the hospital because her father’s condition had worsened, and the hospital had issued a critical illness notice.
Tang Jie was momentarily surprised. He had already infused Li Feifei’s father with true qi the other day, clearing the destructive energy within his body. It didn’t make sense that his condition had deteriorated again. Soon, Tang Jie guessed the possible cause-it must be the Chen family. They had discovered that their attempt to have him killed had failed and instead, their own man was killed by him. Now, they were retaliating by punishing Li Feifei.
Fury surged within Tang Jie, but he comforted Li Feifei, assuring her not to worry as he would be at the hospital soon.
Without a word to Chen Shuran, Tang Jie leaped out of his apartment window, holding the freshly concocted antidote, and quickly left through the community gate. Upon arriving at the hospital, he carefully assessed Li Feifei’s father’s condition and confirmed his suspicions. Someone had indeed infused another stream of true qi into her father’s body, this time more severe than before.
Fortunately, his abilities had been improving over the past few days. It didn’t take long for Tang Jie to resolve the true qi in Li Feifei’s father’s body and administer the antidote. He estimated that it wouldn’t be long before he would wake up.
After comforting Li Feifei a bit more, Tang Jie decided there was no time to delay. He immediately set out to confront the Chen family, as dragging this out could endanger many more people connected to him.
Their repeated attempts to cause him trouble had pushed him beyond his limits of tolerance.
Leaving the hospital, Tang Jie called Viper, the boss of the assassin organization. He likely had a lot of information, and he would surely be familiar with the Chen family.
Over the phone, Tang Jie informed Viper of his plan to seek revenge against the Chen family and asked him to wait a while. Once he had dealt with this matter, he would help him out.
Viper, upon hearing that Tang Jie planned to seek revenge on the Chen family, urged him to be careful and told him to call if he encountered any trouble he couldn’t handle.
Tang Jie didn’t say much. After hanging up the phone, he hailed a taxi and gave the driver a concealed location in a suburban area. He had learned the location of the Chen family’s headquarters from the three men last time, and tonight, he was determined to destroy their base entirely.
The taxi meandered through various routes for over an hour before arriving at the location. Tang Jie got out and found himself in near-total darkness-there were no streetlights, and the road was practically invisible. Just as he started to wonder if those three men had deceived him, he noticed a dense patch of forest up ahead. Through the trees, he caught faint glimpses of light.
Tang Jie headed toward the forest. Once inside, he realized the light was coming from beyond the trees. Pushing forward, the illumination grew steadily brighter. After weaving through the dense forest for over ten minutes, he finally saw the source of the light-it was emanating from a building. It was hidden so well that, during the day, it would have been nearly impossible to spot. Beyond the forest lay a structure concealed in the darkness.
At that moment, Tang Jie confirmed that the three men hadn’t lied to him. This was undoubtedly the Chen family’s headquarters. As he approached, he became increasingly cautious. When he reached the building, he saw it was a massive villa surrounded by a high wall, at least three meters tall. The villa itself had four stories and covered a substantial area of land. There appeared to be no gate at first, but as Tang Jie got closer, he spotted infrared sensors installed along the villa’s walls.
Tang Jie moved quickly and silently, leaping down directly beneath the villa’s high wall and staying out of the infrared detectors’ range. He followed the wall to the left and soon came upon the villa’s gate. From inside, he could hear footsteps. Listening closely, he discerned four distinct sets of steps, likely coming from guards stationed within.
“Four guards just for the gate? It seems Chen Feng, that old man, is as cunning as they say. He must have made plenty of enemies to be this paranoid,” Tang Jie thought coldly.
He stifled a sneer and held his breath as he crept toward the villa’s gate. Standing silently to the side, he cautiously peeked inside. Sure enough, four guards were posted near the entrance, each one alert and wide awake despite it being the middle of the night. Not a trace of fatigue showed on their faces. A quick glance further inside revealed two additional guards standing near the main entrance of the villa. Judging by their stature and movements, Tang Jie immediately deduced that their skills were likely within the Innate Great Perfection realm.
“Hmph! Even so, I’m breaking in tonight no matter what. Old fox, you’d better be ready for me!” Tang Jie growled internally as his determination burned brighter.
With his plan formed, Tang Jie saw no need to stay hidden any longer. In a flash, he appeared at the villa gate. His sudden appearance startled the four guards, who immediately turned to face him, shock written on their faces.
They hadn’t noticed anyone approaching, which filled them with disbelief. One of the guards, upon seeing Tang Jie’s face clearly, immediately recognized him.
“It’s you!” the man exclaimed.
Tang Jie’s eyes narrowed as he focused on the speaker. After a brief look, he recognized him as well-the same person he had struck on the wrist during the ancient martial arts tournament.
“That’s right. It’s me,” Tang Jie replied coldly, his piercing gaze sending a chill through the air.
“Go inside and report this!” the guard shouted to one of the others near the gate. But before the man could move, Tang Jie leapt into action, vaulting over the gate and landing effortlessly inside.
“Your Chen family’s gate was ridiculously easy to breach. Looks like you’re all a bunch of worthless fools!” Tang Jie sneered, his words laced with biting sarcasm as he faced the four guards.
“Getting in was easy. Let’s see if you can get back out!” retorted the lead guard, unwilling to lose face. Without another word, all four guards lunged at Tang Jie simultaneously.
Tang Jie instantly felt the intense force emanating from their combined attack. Their skills were leagues ahead of the three men he had easily disposed of last time-at least twice as strong.
But Tang Jie was unfazed. A derisive smile curled on his lips as he met their moves head-on. With a swift motion, he unleashed a fierce surge of true qi from his palm. The overwhelming power of his strike collided with all four of their attacks, stopping them in their tracks.
Each of the four guards had achieved the Innate Great Perfection realm, a level where they rarely encountered anyone who could challenge them. During the ancient martial arts tournament, only one of them had faced Tang Jie, and his defeat had been chalked up to bad luck. The remaining three hadn’t taken Tang Jie seriously until now. Seeing him effortlessly parry their joint assault left them in shock-but also with a sense of indignation.
Two of the guards moved quickly to flank Tang Jie, darting to his rear to attack him from both sides. Their aim was to catch him in a pincer move.
Tang Jie sensed their movements without needing to turn around. As they positioned themselves behind him, one of the remaining guards in front launched a sharp kick aimed at Tang Jie’s chest, while the other struck out with a forceful palm strike. At the same time, the two guards behind him attacked his vital points from above and below, aiming to land a decisive blow.
Their speed was astonishing, but Tang Jie was faster. In a flash, he extended his hand like lightning, grabbing the wrist of the guard on his left. With a sharp pull, he yanked the man forward while twisting his body to the side. In the same motion, Tang Jie delivered a vicious kick toward the guard on the right, targeting the man’s knee with precision. Using the momentum, Tang Jie harnessed the force to send the man he had grabbed hurtling backward.
The airborne guard collided directly with the two men who had been attacking Tang Jie from behind. Their palm strikes, which were aimed squarely at Tang Jie, landed full-force on their own comrade instead.
They watched as their comrade, used by Tang Jie as a human shield, was thrown over. It was too late to retract their strikes; the man Tang Jie was holding was hit by his own allies. Seizing the moment, Tang Jie released his grip, and the man’s body slammed heavily onto the ground. Finding an opening, Tang Jie swiftly kicked him in the chest, a dull thud echoed, and the man spat out blood and immediately ceased to breathe.
Seeing their ally killed by Tang Jie, the other three men’s eyes turned red with rage. Tang Jie, with a chilling coldness in his eyes, didn’t wait for them to prepare and decided to strike. He quickly moved towards the man in front, his left hand whipping up as he gathered true qi into a palm wind, aiming it at him. However, this time, Tang Jie didn’t succeed so easily; the man leaped over him, avoiding the palm wind.
Before Tang Jie could turn around, a powerful palm wind from the remaining three men came crashing down like a torrential wave. Unable to counter in time, Tang Jie dodged first, realizing he had underestimated the abilities of the remaining three. Remembering that the man he had just killed was the same one whose wrist he had injured the other day, it made sense why the man was so easily defeated. This realization made Tang Jie more cautious, yet his gaze remained confident, filled with an iceberg-like murderous aura.
“It seems not all of the Chen family are useless,” Tang Jie remarked coldly, eyeing the three men in front of him.
“Enough talk! You killed one of ours, and today, we’ll make sure you die here!” the man in the middle roared, and alongside the other two, they launched even faster, fiercer, and more ruthless attacks targeting Tang Jie’s chest, abdomen, and legs.
Tang Jie stood his ground, countering their moves without dodging. He could hear noises from the villa behind him, indicating that the occupants were aware of his presence and were about to come out.
Narrowing his eyes, Tang Jie thought of quickly settling scores with Chen Feng, the old fox, unwilling to waste time with the men before him. He unleashed a powerful palm wind, pushing them back. In that moment, he gathered true qi in both hands and launched the sky-turning needle. The three men tried to leap away, but after Tang Jie’s enhancement in inner strength, the sky-turning needle had also been upgraded. The dense flurry of tiny needles covered such a wide area, it was capable of striking dozens of people simultaneously.
