Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 117 - Viper Appears
Li Feifei took Tang Jie to the agreed meeting spot, a secluded area in the suburb. When they arrived, Tang Jie realized that it was the same factory from last time. Immediately, he recalled the moment when Li Feifei had appeared alongside the yellow-haired man and a masked figure. Those individuals were ancient martial arts masters, though they had not yet attained a certain realm. They must have been sent by the people threatening Li Feifei.
As they arrived at the abandoned factory, Tang Jie told Li Feifei that he would pretend to be poisoned and instructed her to find a hiding spot. He suspected a fight would be inevitable.
Hearing how much Tang Jie cared about her, Li Feifei’s face revealed gratitude. After she nodded, the two got out of the car and headed towards the factory.
As soon as Tang Jie stepped through the factory gate, he felt a strong, hidden aura emanating from the shadows. It was the kind of energy that only a master could release-and only another master could sense.
“Why did you want me to come here?” Tang Jie deliberately spoke as if nothing was wrong, intending to protect Li Feifei.
“Um, nothing much. I just wanted to have a chat with you here,” Li Feifei replied awkwardly, lowering her head in embarrassment.
“Ah!” Tang Jie suddenly bent over, crying out in apparent pain.
“What’s wrong with you?” Li Feifei asked anxiously, worried by his discomfort. Seeing her concerned expression, Tang Jie found it amusing. Had she forgotten they were acting? Or was she taking it too seriously?
“My stomach feels like it’s burning. Go to the car and get me some water,” Tang Jie said, giving her a meaningful look. Only then did Li Feifei realize what he was doing. Remembering their earlier plan, she understood that Tang Jie was asking her to leave.
Li Feifei glanced at him uneasily, reluctance flashing across her face before she walked out of the gate and returned to her car.
As soon as Li Feifei was out of sight, Tang Jie heard a cold laugh echo from the shadows. Several figures quickly emerged.
“What’s the matter? Not feeling well?” Tang Jie turned around, feigning even greater pain. Just as he suspected, the people who had appeared were indeed ancient martial arts masters. Although he hadn’t seen them before, he could tell with certainty that they were from the Chen family.
“Who are you?” Tang Jie asked deliberately, waiting for them to reveal their identity.
“What good would it do you to know who we are? Tonight will be your death anyway. You might as well kneel and beg for mercy. Maybe then, we’ll take pity on you and spare your life,” one of them sneered disdainfully.
Tang Jie figured that Li Feifei must have safely left by now. Dropping the act, he stood upright with a cold smirk and said, “Did you really think such a despicable poison scheme would fool me?”
Hearing this, the group of men froze in shock for a moment. They carefully observed Tang Jie, realizing that he indeed showed no signs of being poisoned. Their faces betrayed their astonishment.
“Even if that’s the case, you won’t leave here alive tonight.” Without further delay, the three men launched their attack, darting toward Tang Jie simultaneously.
Tang Jie immediately sensed the powerful currents of energy coming from their movements. With a keen awareness, he quickly determined that all three men were ancient martial arts masters at the Innate Great Perfection realm. His eyes glinted with a cold, murderous intent. Even against three opponents, his strength was more than sufficient to handle them.
As the men approached, Tang Jie rapidly began mobilizing qi, condensing his true qi to meet their assault head-on. Striking with lightning-fast speed, which far outpaced their reactions, he landed two formidable moves. Within moments, the three men were struggling to defend themselves, forced into a retreat.
They stepped back to regroup, clearly dissatisfied, with grim and ruthless expressions on their faces.
“Take him down! We must end him tonight!” one of the men barked, and all three lunged at him again, this time using their strongest techniques.
“Hah! Let’s see who gets to stay standing by the end of tonight!”
As Tang Jie’s voice rang out, his hands flipped upwards, and in a flash, he unleashed a blistering pair of strikes toward two of his attackers. The men hastily attempted to counter, but Tang Jie’s inner strength vastly overpowered theirs. The currents of energy generated by his palm wind pressed them back relentlessly until they were pinned against the wall.
“Damn it! We walked into a trap!” one of the men cursed. Realizing they were no match for him and that Tang Jie showed no signs of being poisoned, he turned to the others and yelled before attempting to bolt for the gate.
Tang Jie let out a cold laugh, thinking to himself, You’re not getting away from me tonight. Before the fleeing man could make it out the gate, Tang Jie spun around, twisting mid-air with a graceful yet lethal motion. Gathering his true qi, he unleashed the Sky-Turning Needle. The densely concentrated needles of qi shot toward the man’s back, piercing into his body with devastating precision. A pained wail escaped the man’s lips as his body convulsed. A spray of blood splattered against the iron gate before he collapsed lifelessly to the ground.
Seeing how much more potent his Sky-Turning Needle had become, Tang Jie felt a flicker of satisfaction. When he turned to look at the two men cornered against the wall, he saw terror written plainly on their faces as they stared at their fallen comrade. Yet, being ancient martial arts masters, they were not so easily cowed into submission.
The two men exchanged a glance, a silent understanding passing between them, before darting toward Tang Jie simultaneously, each unleashing their most ruthless techniques.
Tang Jie stood motionless, rooted to the spot. True qi gathered in his hands as his eyes burned with a chilling killing intent. Before the two men could close the gap, Tang Jie struck with lightning speed, sending a devastating palm strike that blasted one of them backward with a powerful current of energy. The man’s body slammed heavily into the wall behind him. The second man barely had time to react before Tang Jie’s hand shot out, grabbing him tightly by the throat.
“Speak. Who sent you?” Tang Jie’s eyes were as cold as ice, his fury barely contained as it radiated off him.
“I… I don’t know.” The man tried to lie, but before he could finish, Tang Jie’s grip shifted from the man’s throat to his wrist. With a sharp crack, the sickening sound of bones breaking echoed through the air, and the man let out a blood-curdling scream as his wrist was forcibly snapped.
“AHHHH!” The man howled in pain as cold sweat drenched his face.
“Speak. Or do you want to see what happens to your other wrist?” Tang Jie’s voice was calm, but it carried the weight of absolute control.
“I… I’ll talk!” Desperation seeped into the man’s voice as the unbearable pain overwhelmed him. He watched, terrified, as Tang Jie moved to grab his other wrist. Faced with no other choice, he finally caved.
“It… It was the family leader who sent us!”
The family leader? Tang Jie’s eyes narrowed sharply, his fury surging. His grip on the man’s throat tightened as his voice turned icy cold.
“Chen Feng?” he demanded, his fingers pressing dangerously into the man’s neck, threatening to crush it.
“Yes… yes!” The man barely managed to choke out the answer, his face twisted in agony.
As the words left the man’s mouth, Tang Jie’s pupils contracted. Without hesitation, another sharp crack rang out as the man’s throat was crushed under Tang Jie’s grip. His lifeless body crumpled to the ground, eyes wide open in a frozen expression of terror.
Tang Jie stood over the bodies of the two men he had killed, his gaze dark and unyielding. Walking over to the man who had been thrown against the wall, he confirmed that all three were now dead. His eyes burned with a bone-chilling fury as he silently vowed vengeance.
Chen Feng. Chen family. So it really was you.
They had crossed him one too many times. Tang Jie swore in his heart that he would not let them get away with this any longer.
Clenching his fist to rein in his anger, Tang Jie suddenly thought of Li Feifei. Fishing his phone out, he dialed her number. The call was picked up almost immediately, and Li Feifei’s trembling voice came through the line. She told him she was waiting not far from the factory.
After hanging up, Tang Jie wasted no time. Turning on his heels, he quickly made his way outside to meet her.
As Tang Jie stepped outside, he walked a short distance before spotting Li Feifei’s car. He paused, momentarily surprised. He had clearly told her to leave earlier and head back first.
Climbing into the car, he noticed Li Feifei was still trembling, clearly shaken by what she’d experienced. Unable to suppress his concern, he asked softly, “What’s wrong?”
“I… I heard noises. Someone screaming from inside…” she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. It became clear that she had overheard the anguished cries of the men Tang Jie had just killed.
“It’s alright. They were all bad people. They deserved it.” His tone carried a reassuring strength. Noticing how scared she was, he added, “If you’re too frightened to drive, I’ll take the wheel.”
Li Feifei nodded at his words, obediently sliding into the passenger seat without protest. Tang Jie moved over to the driver’s seat, quickly started the car, and drove them toward the city center.
Once there, they parted ways. Tang Jie returned to the villa, while Li Feifei went her separate way. When Tang Jie entered the villa, it was already late, and Chen Shuran was fast asleep. Alone in the quiet night, Tang Jie sat and silently reviewed everything that had happened so far. The actions of Chen Ten, Chen Yin, and Chen Nan repeatedly came to mind, and a cold suspicion lingered in his heart. It was clear to him now-there was a far-reaching conspiracy in motion, and the Chen family was at the center of it.
After contemplating his next steps, Tang Jie decided to take the initiative this time. He would find the Chen family’s stronghold and uncover whatever plot they were weaving. However, before he could confront them, there was another matter to address-he had promised Li Feifei that he would first cure her father’s illness.
Setting his revenge against the Chen family aside for the time being, Tang Jie began compiling a list of the medicinal herbs needed for her father’s treatment. After finalizing the list, he wrote it neatly on a piece of paper, resolved to seek Uncle Zhao’s assistance in sourcing the items the following day.
Just as Tang Jie was about to rest for the night, his phone rang. To his surprise, it was Viper, someone he hadn’t heard from in quite a while. On the call, Viper explained that he’d run into some trouble and needed Tang Jie’s help.
“What kind of trouble?” Tang Jie asked directly.
“It’s complicated. I don’t want to discuss it over the phone,” Viper replied, his tone cautious. “Come find me tomorrow.”
Tang Jie agreed, and the two set a time and place to meet.
The next day in class, Tang Jie noticed that Li Feifei wasn’t present. Curious, he discreetly asked around and found out from the class teacher that she had taken leave to visit the hospital. Tang Jie immediately understood-she must have gone to check on her father. Knowing this, he didn’t feel particularly worried and made a mental note to call Uncle Zhao after school.
During the break after the second class, Zhang Jie appeared, bringing with him the twenty followers who had already pledged their allegiance to Tang Jie. As they approached, their respectful demeanor caused a stir in the classroom. Despite himself, Tang Jie couldn’t help but feel a small boost in his mood.
“You know,” Xiao Ran chimed in teasingly, her usual gossip-loving nature shining through. “Can you guys maybe tone it down a little? If you walk around like this tomorrow, you might just scare the rest of the class silly.” Her laughter carried a hint of mischief as she gestured at Zhang Jie and his small army of followers, who trailed Tang Jie wherever he went like shadows.
Tang Jie glanced at her and shook his head with an amused smile. Xiao Ran always had a way of lightening the mood.
