Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 101 - The Spinning Person
“Again!” Before Zhang Jie could say a word, the fat guy shouted defiantly and charged at Tang Jie once more. At the same time, Zhang Jie, realizing that Tang Jie wasn’t an easy opponent, gestured to another onlooker to join the fat guy in the attack. With a cold smirk, he stood back, watching Tang Jie while thinking to himself, You’ll regret bragging like that.
“Look! It’s getting even better!” someone in the crowd of students shouted, drawing everyone’s attention to the scene.
Tang Jie eyed the two men charging at him from front and back. Two massive heads, each bigger than the other-what a waste of natural advantage not to practice iron-head skills, he mused. But no matter, if he took them in as followers later, he could definitely put them to good use.
As the two rushed in, using the same method as before, Tang Jie quietly took a breath, letting his energy flow through him as power gathered in his hands. This time, he decided not to dodge. Instead, he directed his true qi into both legs, solidifying his stance and increasing his leg strength.
The two fat guys closed in on Tang Jie with full force. In an instant, Tang Jie reached out, grabbed both of them by their collars, and with a quick forward tug-
Thud!
“Ahhh! That hurts!” Both massive heads collided, and the two immediately collapsed to the ground, seeing nothing but stars.
“What the hell was that move?” one of the fat guys asked begrudgingly. He had to admit that something felt off just now-when Tang Jie grabbed their collars, the strength in his grip was overwhelming. Yet despite their confusion, pride got the better of them, and he refused to back down.
“That’s what you call a head-to-head!” Tang Jie said with a chuckle, glancing at the two giant lumps already forming on their foreheads. “It’s actually a pretty entertaining pastime, don’t you think?”
The bystanders exchanged glances, visibly impressed by how easily Tang Jie had handled these two. Others in Zhang Jie’s group, eager to step forward, were stopped by him. Zhang Jie stared at Tang Jie, his gaze narrowing as he realized that this guy seemed to truly have some skills. He fell silent for a moment before speaking.
“How about we raise the stakes a bit?”
Tang Jie, intrigued, responded immediately, “Sure, let’s hear it.” He noticed the hint of calculation in Zhang Jie’s eyes and quickly made a few guesses about his intentions. Still, Tang Jie had begun to enjoy the game and decided to play it out to its fullest.
“Your feet can’t leave the ground-if they do, you lose. If you can still beat me under those rules, we’ll call you boss from now on. Every month, we’ll pay our respects to you. Whatever you tell us to do, we’ll do. How about it?”
Zhang Jie’s expression was full of confidence, as though he had already determined Tang Jie would lose.
Hearing the conditions, Tang Jie frowned slightly. Even the crowd found them hard to believe. Such a small space, and his feet couldn’t leave the ground? And he still had to fend off a group attack? Come on, not even Shaolin monks could pull that off. Unless he became as immovable as a stone. Tang Jie might have shown some skill, sure, but he looked like an average guy of average build-how could he possibly turn into a stone?
“Alright! It’s a deal!” To everyone’s surprise, Tang Jie’s reply silenced the crowd- even Zhang Jie, who was convinced Tang Jie couldn’t pull it off, froze for a moment, caught off guard.
“But I’ve got one condition to add as well,” Tang Jie said, his gaze subtly shifting toward Chen Shuran, a sly grin creeping onto his face.
“Alright, speak up! What’s your condition?” Zhang Jie was already committed, and backing out now would mean losing face-something he refused to do.
“If I win, not only will you have to honor the conditions you’ve already promised me-every single one-but I also get to name another condition later. I haven’t decided what it will be yet, but once I figure it out, you’ll have to do it. Do you dare agree to that?”
The crowd murmured uneasily. Some of Zhang Jie’s people looked nervous. If Tang Jie didn’t specify what the condition was, what if he demanded something totally unreasonable or impossible? Wouldn’t that be playing right into his hands?
“Relax,” Tang Jie said with a playful smirk, watching their hesitation. “I’m not gonna make things hard for you. Whatever it is, it’ll definitely be something you can accomplish. I’m not asking you to kill or commit arson-so what’s there to be afraid of?”
Zhang Jie fell silent, considering the proposal. After a moment of thought, he nodded decisively. “Fine!”
From behind the green belt, every spectator held their breath, eyes wide with anticipation. Tension built as everyone waited for what promised to be the most thrilling showdown yet.
Zhang Jie gave a signal to his group of more than twenty people, ordering them to step back simultaneously. He leaned in, whispering something to them, likely giving out tactical instructions. Soon after, Tang Jie watched as the twenty or so people divided into two groups, forming two concentric circles around him-an inner circle and an outer one. It was obvious they were planning a rotational attack. If the people in the inner circle couldn’t take Tang Jie down, the outer circle would move in.
Tang Jie remained completely composed. His figure stood tall and straight, his posture dignified, and under the sunlight, he exuded the aura of a proud and unyielding pine tree. Somewhere in the crowd, a dreamy sigh escaped from a bystander.
“Wow! He’s so handsome!”
“Yeah, seriously, so handsome!”
“Go!” Zhang Jie’s command pierced through the tension, and the front line of attackers surged toward Tang Jie all at once. There were about ten of them this time, and some of their heights matched or even exceeded Tang Jie’s. Many of them were athletes, their physiques exuding strength. Even if Tang Jie were a deeply rooted, immovable tree, they just might have the ability to uproot him.
“Go, hottie! You’ve got this!”
“You’re my idol! You have to win!”
The audience erupted in cheers, with chants of encouragement already echoing through the air.
A female teacher, who happened to have no classes at that moment, casually glanced out from the toilet window and saw what was happening on the playground. Being a fan of wuxia novels and idol-like comic heroes, she was immediately hooked. She leaned over the windowsill, her eyes glued to the thrilling scene unfolding on the west side of the playground.
Tang Jie stood calm and composed, steadying his breathing. His eyes closed briefly, and when they opened again, the crowd surrounding him came charging in like a violent gust of wind. In an instant, his sharp gaze darted around, quickly locking onto the two tallest boys in the group. Just as they lunged at him with outstretched arms, Tang Jie intercepted, grabbing both of their wrists tightly. With a simple lift, he hoisted the two into the air. Then, in a breathtaking display of strength and agility, he began to spin, turning the two into what could only be described as a human spinning person, resembling an airborne carousel gone wild.
“Ahhh!”
“Mommy!”
“My face!”
“My nose!”
“My teeth!”
Cries of agony erupted one after another as the two makeshift “projectiles” in Tang Jie’s hands collided with the surrounding attackers. The front line of Zhang Jie’s group crumbled into chaos as people stumbled and crawled out of the fray, groaning like injured animals. Meanwhile, those attempting to charge in from the back were promptly knocked out of the circle by the human missiles spinning wildly in Tang Jie’s grasp.
Within moments, the twenty-odd attackers lay scattered across the ground like a collapsed mountain, writhing and wailing in defeat. The two “spinning persons” were finally set down by Tang Jie-only to sway on their feet, their eyes rolling uncontrollably. After a mere few seconds, they both collapsed, foaming at the mouth. Sprawled on the ground with their limbs akimbo, they stared blankly at the sky, looking as lifeless as corpses.
“He’s a god!”
“Wow! I want to worship him!”
“Oh my gosh! I swear, I’ll marry him in this lifetime or no one!”
Voices of admiration and pure infatuation rang out from behind the green belt, the cheering audience now fully captivated. Among them, even the usually calm Chen Shuran and the shy Xiao Ran couldn’t hide their mesmerized expressions.
“My goodness! Which class is he in? He’s so handsome… ” whispered the teacher hiding in the toilet. She adjusted her glasses, which she nearly dropped in shock, muttering to herself like a starry-eyed fangirl.
Zhang Jie could only stare at his crew sprawled across the ground, his expression frozen in disbelief. It was as if he had just witnessed the real-life version of a Transformer in action. His stunned eyes reflected pure shock, his face frozen in a mix of awe and despair.
“Still want to play?” Tang Jie asked, casually dusting off his hands. He glanced at Zhang Jie with a confident smile, the same blade of grass still tucked in the corner of his mouth. If he were to turn his head and grin, it felt as though he would send the entire crowd swooning on the spot.
“You win,” Zhang Jie finally conceded. He looked at his defeated gang and sighed inwardly, knowing it would probably take them an hour or two just to recover. There was no point in continuing this farce.
“Good. Let’s call it a day then. But if you’re still eager to test me, let’s make it even more interesting next time,” Tang Jie teased as he stepped out of the circle. The crowd gasped as they realized something remarkable-his feet had never moved from their original spot, not even a bit.
“Wait up, Boss!” Zhang Jie called out from behind. Tang Jie stopped in his tracks and turned around. Zhang Jie’s face was etched with dissatisfaction from his defeat, but he nevertheless bowed his head slightly and called out again, “Boss, from now on, if you ever need anything, just say the word.”
“Get up, all of you! Come over here and greet the boss!” Zhang Jie commanded, shouting toward the group of bruised and battered individuals still sprawled on the ground. Slowly and with much difficulty, they managed to get on their feet and stand in front of Tang Jie.
“Boss!” they chorused. Among the voices, Tang Jie could hear faint traces of defiance, but he was confident that it wouldn’t take long for them to truly respect him from the bottom of their hearts.
“Alright, go back to class,” Tang Jie ordered, his tone firm and commanding-radiating the authority of a true leader. As he glanced at the beaten, disheveled crowd in front of him, his composure held steady, though inside he was quite amused by the sight.
The group of twenty or so people exchanged glances, sneaking one last look at Tang Jie before turning to Zhang Jie as if waiting for his lead.
“Did you not hear what the Boss said?!” Zhang Jie barked, his earlier frustration now gone, replaced with newfound respect for Tang Jie. With his shout, the group finally dispersed, each retreating to their respective classrooms.
“Boss, I’ll head out now,” Zhang Jie said. “I’m in Class 1 of Freshman Year, so if you need me, just say the word. I’ll get the others for you as well.” His tone carried a hint of sincerity this time. Tang Jie gave him a small nod, feeling rather satisfied with the transformation.
After Zhang Jie left, Tang Jie walked toward Chen Shuran, who had been standing not far away. Just like before, he leaped effortlessly over the green belt in a single bound.
“Wow…” As soon as he landed beside Chen Shuran, a collective wave of gasps erupted from the nearby onlookers. Turning his head, Tang Jie noticed a group of students staring at him with a mix of awe and infatuation, their faces almost glowing with admiration. He suddenly felt a headache coming on-so this was where all the spectators had been hiding.
“Hey, kid, what’s with that look?” Tang Jie asked, noticing that Xiao Ran was staring at him with wide, gleaming eyes. The way she looked at him made him feel slightly uneasy.
“Shuran-Jie, can I borrow something from you?” Xiao Ran asked tentatively, her gaze shifting to Chen Shuran, though her eyes frequently darted back to Tang Jie.
Chen Shuran stared at her, confused. “What do you want to borrow?”
Xiao Ran hesitated for a moment before blurting out, “Can you… can you lend me Tang Jie for one night?”
Thud! Tang Jie nearly collapsed on the spot.
