Demon-Wraith Plagued World: From Commoner to Supreme - Chapter 48 - Defeating Li Qing
Chen Fei watched Lin Feng on the stage with a calm expression. He had seen Lin Feng’s blade before; although he could also slice a Minor Demon of the Second Realm into two with one strike, he couldn’t do it with the same ease and… yes, if he had to describe it in one word, it would be “graceful.” He knew Lin Feng was far more complex than he appeared.
“So, you’re Lin Feng? Last time, you managed to kill a Minor Demon of the Second Realm, not bad! But I killed three! I thought you were a decent guy. However, my brother said not to waste this opportunity, and it’s best to give you a hard time!” Li Qing said from across the stage.
“Oh? Your brother? Li Wuyi?” Lin Feng asked, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. With his sharp eyes and name, Li Qing was a cross-eyed fighter! It was hard not to chuckle at the sight. Was the Demon Exorcism Division too lenient, or were the Four Families’ financial powers too strong?
“Yes, why are you laughing?” Li Qing’s face turned cold, his voice drifting over.
“Nothing? I’m not laughing!” Lin Feng bit his lip, his facial muscles straining.
“Not laughing? Since hearing my name, you’ve been smiling! What are you laughing at?” Li Qing demanded, his blood surging.
“Oh, really? Maybe I just thought of something funny!” Lin Feng couldn’t hold back any longer, his lips curling into a grin. The originally serious match seemed to have taken a humorous turn.
“Too much!” Li Qing shouted, his feet pushing off the ground as he leapt into the air, fists raised to strike Lin Feng. His punch was like a tiger descending the mountain, accompanied by the roar of a Tiger.
“Major Mastery of Tiger Roar Fist!” The crowd gasped. Though Li Qing wasn’t much to look at, his talent and insight were impressive. At such a young age, he had cultivated Tiger Roar Fist to Major Mastery. With this punch, Lin Feng was expected to be seriously injured.
“Quickly surrender…” Chen Fei’s heart tightened, wanting to urge Lin Feng to give up. The gap between them was too vast! Zhao Chengze also showed a worried expression, while Li Wuyi looked satisfied, finally able to avenge past grievances.
But to everyone’s surprise, Lin Feng didn’t dodge or evade; he punched directly at Li Qing! Li Qing had already planned his next move if Lin Feng dodged, deciding which attack to use from that direction. Yet, Lin Feng’s unexpected direct confrontation caught him off guard. Still, it was good; it meant the match could be decided in one blow.
Chen Fei and others were shocked that Lin Feng chose to face the Major Mastery of Tiger Roar Fist head-on. Wasn’t this asking for trouble? Mu Yu covered her eyes with her hands, unable to watch.
With a dull thud, Lin Feng’s seemingly ordinary punch sent Li Qing flying. No fancy moves, just pure power that defeated him outright. Li Qing soared through the air like a kite with its string cut, faster than when he had charged, and spat out a mouthful of blood mid-flight. With a crash, his body slammed onto the arena, but he quickly sprang back to his feet, his eyes suddenly appearing normal.
“Whoa, what happened? I thought Li-Ge had lost!” someone exclaimed. But as soon as the words left his mouth, Li Qing’s eyes reverted to their cross-eyed state, and he collapsed straight down again.
The crowd fell silent, a deathly hush enveloping the arena. No one had anticipated Lin Feng’s victory, let alone such a decisive one. That was the Major Mastery Tiger Roar Fist, defeated by a single punch!
Chen Fei and You Lin were left speechless, their mouths agape. Mu Yu peeked through her fingers to see Lin Feng standing while Li Qing was down, her mouth forming an “o” shape. Even Yu Qingqing, usually composed, had her lips slightly parted, revealing her inner turmoil.
“Great! Just great!” Zhao Chengze shouted excitedly.
Li Wuyi was first shocked, then his brows furrowed, his face dark as a pot’s bottom.
“Lin Feng wins!” announced the squad leader acting as the referee.
The crowd finally erupted, breaking free from their stunned silence.
“Lin Feng, you’re amazing! Lin Feng won!” Mu Yu jumped up in excitement, cheering for Lin Feng.
From their elevated positions, Huang Qiong and the other platoon commanders looked at Lin Feng with expressions of surprise.
“He’s trained in the Vajra Art, and his Iron Shirt is Initiated! Plus, he seems to have considerable strength,” Huang Qiong nodded, analyzing.
Wu Peng’s expression was less than pleased, as this match also concerned their interests. Li Qing was considered a top contender in the Bone Forging Realm, yet he had fallen to Lin Feng, a relatively unknown figure.
“Haha, Commander Wu, who would’ve thought Li Qing would lose so easily? Quite unexpected!” Bai Sheng’s laughter rang out, his mood buoyant.
“Hmph! Lin Feng isn’t under Commander Bai’s wing, so why celebrate prematurely? Besides, wasn’t Zhao Chengze trying to get Commander Bai to recruit him? What now? Did Commander Bai misjudge and let Ding Yun scoop him up?” Wu Peng retorted.
“Just a bit of brute strength, nothing impressive. If Commander Ding wants him, he can have him,” Bai Sheng replied, hiding his displeasure and feigning indifference.
Unaware of the squabble between the two commanders, Lin Feng jumped off the arena. Zhao Chengze approached, playfully punching him on the shoulder.
“Good job, kid! Didn’t expect you to have such skills!”
“Not as good as Zhao-Ge, just a stroke of luck,” Lin Feng replied with a humble smile.
The group then proceeded to draw lots again. Zhao Chengze watched Lin Feng, his eyes flickering with thought before he smiled.
In the third round, Lin Feng’s luck held, and he got a bye. With one pair suffering mutual defeat, only 20 contestants remained. Winning one more match would secure a spot in the top ten, earning him two Bone Refining Pills.
Li Wuyi, Zhao Chengze, and Yu Qingqing also advanced. As they drew lots again, Lin Feng faced a disciple in the Late Stage of the Bone Forging Realm.
“You’re impressive, defeating Li Qing, but it was just brute force,” remarked Gao Shan, another of Wu Peng’s subordinates.
“If Li Qing had been more cautious, you wouldn’t have stood a chance against him,” Gao Shan stated seriously.
“And I never underestimate any opponent,” he declared, charging at Lin Feng.
“This time, Gao Shan won’t lose. He’s always cautious, and even if Lin Feng has some strength, he’s definitely not a match. Strength without speed is useless if you can’t land a hit,” Wu Peng muttered, watching the new disciples’ match closely.
Li Wuyi shared the sentiment, wishing he could personally defeat Lin Feng, but lacking the opportunity.
“Lin Feng is going to lose this time!”
