Demon-Wraith Plagued World: From Commoner to Supreme - Chapter 26 - Vajra Art
As Mei Changyun charged forward with an imposing aura, Lin Feng moved like the wind, effortlessly dodging Mei Changyun’s attack. Mei Changyun’s punch hit nothing but air, nearly causing him to stumble and fall flat on his face. In front of Lin Feng, this warrior with perfected Body Forging seemed like a mere child.
Quickly regaining his balance, Mei Changyun turned and launched another attack at Lin Feng. After more than a dozen moves, Mei Changyun, like a raging bull, kept charging but couldn’t even touch the hem of Lin Feng’s clothes. This made the onlookers reevaluate Lin Feng.
Lin Feng danced through Mei Changyun’s attacks like a butterfly among flowers, handling them with ease and grace, making Mei Changyun run in circles. “You little brat, just relying on your body technique to dodge! If you have the guts, face me head-on!” Mei Changyun panted, his attacks proving futile.
Seeing that Mei Changyun was nearly exhausted, Lin Feng seized the moment. As Mei Changyun attacked again, Lin Feng’s right leg lashed out like lightning. Mei Changyun’s fist collided with Lin Feng’s kick, and with a crack, Mei Changyun’s wrist bone shattered, piercing through his skin.
“Ah…” Mei Changyun fell to the ground, wailing in pain, rendered unable to fight. It would take months for him to recover from such an injury. The crowd, now looking at Lin Feng with newfound respect, had lost their earlier disdain.
“Lin Feng wins!” Huang Qiong announced. “You seven are now members of the Demon Exorcism Division’s reserve camp! Go register and collect your supplies. Train hard and strive to become full-fledged members of the Demon Exorcism Division!” With a symbolic word of encouragement, Huang Qiong departed.
Others came to take Mei Changyun for treatment, while the remaining seven were led to register. “Well done, keep it up!” Zhao Chengze encouraged Lin Feng. “Thank you, Zhao-Ge, and Young Master Zhao!” Lin Feng bowed to Zhao Chengze.
Li Wuyi, standing nearby, scoffed and gave Lin Feng a deep look before leaving. “Young Master Li, don’t forget your promise!” Zhao Chengze called out, his tone teasing. Li Wuyi, too angry to respond, left without a word.
“Be careful in the future. Li Wuyi isn’t someone to be trifled with. Don’t give him any leverage over you,” Zhao Chengze advised. “Thank you for the warning, Young Master Zhao,” Lin Feng replied, feeling a bit helpless. He had just arrived and already offended someone from the Li Family, one of the four great families.
But to secure this opportunity, he had no choice. Now that he was in the reserve camp of the Demon Exorcism Division, even the Li Family would have to think twice before acting against him. Without this position, Xu Qiang might soon make his family disappear without a trace.
“By the way, thank you for that cup of Great Drunken Immortal Brew at the Drunken Immortal Inn. Without it, I wouldn’t have advanced to perfected Body Forging so quickly. I’ll treat you to a drink sometime,” Lin Feng said sincerely.
“No need for that! It was just a casual gesture. I found you likable and decided to treat you to a drink!”
“Those twenty Military Merits are valuable. We’ll split them evenly when the time comes!”
Zhao Chengze chuckled, then turned and left with a carefree stride.
Lin Feng wanted to say something but couldn’t find the words. He hadn’t expected Zhao Chengze to be willing to share the Military Merits with him.
Although he wasn’t entirely sure what the Military Merits in the Demon Exorcism Division were used for, they were likely similar to those in the military camp, essential for promotions or exchanging for vital cultivation resources.
Afterward, Lin Feng followed a squad leader to receive his supplies.
He received a token signifying his status as a disciple in the reserve camp of the Demon Exorcism Division, three sets of well-fitting dark blue uniforms, and a sword forged from refined iron.
When drawn, the blade gleamed coldly, sharper than his Pig-killing Knife.
Additionally, he received a month’s salary of five taels of silver.
Most importantly, he finally obtained the Bone Forging realm cultivation manual he had been longing for.
The squad leader led the seven of them to the warehouse.
“Everything in this warehouse requires Military Merits for exchange. You’ve just joined the camp, so aside from selecting a Bone Forging realm cultivation manual, don’t touch anything else. Any issues, and you’ll face military discipline!”
The squad leader warned them before taking them to choose their manuals.
Lin Feng glanced around, seeing various weapons, Elixirs, and many unknown treasures filling the room. There were even second and third floors above.
He truly witnessed the grandeur of the Demon Exorcism Division.
The group cautiously approached a shelf.
On it were only a few cultivation manuals, which left them curious yet somewhat disappointed.
“Don’t be fooled by the few manuals here! The Demon Exorcism Division doesn’t have inferior items. These manuals have been carefully selected and refined!
There’s the Flowing Water Art for enduring strength, the Blazing Sun Art for explosive power, and the Black Tortoise Art for health preservation, among others.
Each manual includes a matching yellow rank martial skill. Take a look for yourselves! Let me know when you’ve made your choice!”
With that, the squad leader waited silently nearby.
Among the seven, Lin Feng was the one who truly needed the manual, as the others came from Families where at least Bone Forging realm manuals were readily available.
Thus, the others quickly made their decisions and exchanged for their manuals.
Lin Feng, after careful consideration, chose the most powerful manual, the Vajra Art, which included a martial skill.
The Horizontal Training Technique, Iron Shirt!
The Vajra Art, when cultivated, would make one as formidable as a fortress, with a body as tough as steel.
Its offensive and defensive capabilities were top-notch.
The downside was its difficulty in cultivation, requiring constant medicinal stimulation to strengthen the bones, consuming a lot of resources.
“Are you sure about this manual?”
The squad leader asked, looking at the manual Lin Feng handed over.
The Vajra Art was undoubtedly the strongest among the manuals, but very few had successfully cultivated it.
Having been here for years, the squad leader had only heard of one person succeeding, who had since moved to the Prefecture City and become a Captain of a Hundred Households.
Others, unable to endure the pain, failed midway and had to switch to other manuals, wasting resources and time.
“The External Refinement Realm consists of Body Forging, Bone Forging, Tendon Changing, Blood Changing, and Marrow Cleansing.
If you don’t reach the Blood Changing Realm within five years in the reserve camp, you won’t be promoted to squad leader and become a true member of the Demon Exorcism Division!
Few succeed with this manual; most just waste time. You come from humble beginnings without resources to support you, so don’t aim too high!”
The squad leader, with good intentions, explained and reminded Lin Feng.
Meanwhile, the other six looked at Lin Feng with smirks, thinking he was being foolish.
“Thank you for the advice. I’ve been accustomed to hardship since childhood and plan to try cultivating this manual. If it doesn’t work out, I’ll switch to another.”
Lin Feng replied with a bow.
Upon hearing this, the squad leader said no more, handing Lin Feng a printed copy.
He reminded Lin Feng not to share it, or face military punishment, and to memorize the contents quickly, as the text would disappear in three days.
