Deadly Sweet - Chapter 3 - Sweet Steamed Cheese Custard
The bar was a chaotic mix of people, with stage lights constantly sweeping over the dancing crowd. The people moving to the rhythm of the music looked like tiny ants gathered together, so densely packed that it could give anyone goosebumps.
The deafening heavy metal music made Jiang Yao frown, his clear eyes showing signs of irritation.
“What’s your problem?” he snapped, naturally directing his anger at the culprit, Xie Chen.
Xie Chen’s expression remained unchanged, even looking serious as he held Jiang Yao’s hand, leading him through the swaying crowd towards the private room they had booked.
“Yao, I’m telling you, you’re going to love this!”
Jiang Yao was so angry that he laughed, a dangerous smile curling at his lips, his eyes narrowing slightly. In the depths of his eyes, a dark beast lay in wait, ready to strike at any moment.
They walked from the ground floor to the door of the private room. Jiang Yao crossed his arms and watched Xie Chen, who had suddenly stopped, with a complex expression.
Xie Chen seemed to have seen something terrifying. His face changed dramatically, and although he wanted to shout, he remembered Jiang Yao behind him and suppressed his scream, his expression looking constipated.
“Yao, you go in first. I’ll be right there.” He opened the door to the private room and tried to push Jiang Yao inside, but Jiang Yao stood still, not moving until the person he loathed approached.
Luo Ping’s face was covered in colorful bruises, looking particularly striking. He glared at Jiang Yao with gritted teeth and spat on the floor.
“I thought it was someone else, but it’s the famous Young Master Jiang. What are you here for, looking to get yourself screwed? Tsk tsk, what a disgrace. Such a good-looking face, wasted on an omega.”
“But then again, what else can an omega do besides get screwed?”
The words were so provoking that even Xie Chen’s face darkened, turning as black as the bottom of a pot.
The omega standing beside Luo Ping, small and timid, dared not resist the powerful Luo Family’s young master. His dark eyes welled up with tears, as if he could cry at any moment.
Jiang Yao stepped out from behind Xie Chen, his smile not reaching his eyes, looking particularly eerie. “Not as good as the Luo Family’s ‘eldest young master,’ right?” The term “eldest young master” was emphasized, making Luo Ping’s face turn black. He gritted his teeth and raised his hand as if to strike.
The force of his movement cut through the silent air, bringing a gust of wind.
Jiang Yao remained unfazed, his cat-like eyes filled with obvious mockery. He took a step forward, smiling at Luo Ping, his voice clear and pleasant.
“Go ahead, hit me if you dare.”
“Didn’t you already tell my second brother that I beat you half to death?”
Jiang Yao smiled lightly, while Luo Ping’s hair stood on end, his fingers clenched into fists, his muscles tensed as if ready to strike.
“Just you wait! You should be glad I’m in a good mood today, or I wouldn’t bother with an omega like you!” Luo Ping spat out his threats before storming off with the nearly crying omega beside him.
Jiang Yao chuckled, the sarcasm in his eyes almost tangible. Luo Ping, halfway through turning back, hesitated but ultimately left with his head held high.
Luo Ping didn’t dare hit Jiang Yao. After all, the Luo Family and the Jiang Family were not on the same level. Jiang Yao could beat him without consequence, but if Luo Ping hit Jiang Yao, the Luo Family could be ruined by this illegitimate son!
Once Luo Ping was out of sight, Jiang Yao turned and entered the room, his clear green eyes filled with a relaxed smile, as if the murderous intent from earlier was just an illusion.
“So, is that idiot what you thought I’d like?”
Despite the long-standing equality between alphas and omegas, there were still people like Luo Ping who believed omegas should obey alphas. Jiang Yao found it laughable.
A straight alpha syndrome idiot, and a dumb one at that. No amount of family background could save him.
“No, no, I brought you here to eat.”
Xie Chen quickly distanced himself from that idiot, a fruit-flavored cigarette hanging from his lips.
Jiang Yao shot him a cold glance, and Xie Chen hurriedly removed the cigarette, looking at Jiang Yao with a pitiful expression, as if he had been wronged.
“It’s fruit-flavored…”
“I don’t care what flavor it is, don’t smoke in front of me. If you want to die, go ahead.”
“By the way, who was that omega with Luo Ping?” Jiang Yao rarely showed interest in other matters, crossing his legs and smiling under the ambiguous lighting.
Xie Chen handed him a glass of water, his gaze darkening slightly before he forced a casual smile. “I heard he’s a freshman, accidentally ran into Luo Ping and got forced into heat.”
“…Tsk.” Jiang Yao’s expression remained unreadable, his green eyes half-lowered, reflecting on the water.
This was exactly why he despised Luo Ping, always using such dirty tactics.
Seeing Jiang Yao’s distraction, Xie Chen quickly changed the subject. “Jiang Yao, do you sing?”
In all the years he had known Jiang Yao, he had never heard him sing. He had seen him fight plenty of times, though. Even though Jiang Yao was always the one fighting, Xie Chen often ended up taking the blame.
“Are you looking for a beating?” Jiang Yao took a sip of water, his innocent eyes round and obedient, but the threat in them was unmistakable.
With a strong sense of self-preservation, Xie Chen quickly denied it. He called the manager to bring the ordered food, carefully watching Jiang Yao’s every reaction.
The dishes were so exquisite they didn’t seem like bar food. Jiang Yao raised an eyebrow, finally focusing on the sweet steamed cheese custard.
His green eyes sparkled as he took a spoonful and tasted it.
It was indeed better than anything he had tried before, but it still felt strange. Why would a bar sell royal snacks?
With this question in mind, Jiang Yao asked directly. The manager, accustomed to such inquiries, smiled professionally and answered.
“It’s our boss’s idea.”
“Wouldn’t selling fried food be more profitable for a bar?”
“I don’t know what the boss is thinking, but this dish has received rave reviews since it was introduced.”
With the manager’s explanation, Jiang Yao didn’t press further. He waved the manager away, leaving the two of them to quietly enjoy their dessert in the private room.
Jiang Yao’s lips curved slightly, his green eyes reflecting the creamy custard, when suddenly a deep voice broke the silence.
