Deadly Sweet - Chapter 2 - Fried Pigeon
With slender yet well-defined fingers, Jiang Yao grabbed the unknown boy’s collar and, under the terrified gaze of the boy, threw him forcefully. Jiang Yao’s smile was innocent and pure as he squatted down, his round cat-like eyes filled with naive curiosity, the corners of his mouth curling into a dazzling smile.
“Bullying me?” His tone was puzzled. Xie Chen, who was already used to this, stood beside him with a mischievous smile, watching the boy get completely thrashed. His expression was as provoking as it could get.
The most fatal flaw of people is judging others by their appearance.
Jiang Yao looked sweet and obedient, but once he fought, he was ruthless, never leaving his opponent any chance.
The boy glared at Jiang Yao, who was smiling innocently. Despite the pain in his body, he refused to show weakness in front of Jiang Yao. He endured the pain that felt like his bones were breaking and sneered, “I thought you were something special. Turns out you’re just like this.”
Ross got up from the ground, his jaw clenched tightly as he tried to endure the pain. His small eyes leered at Jiang Yao, who was slightly lowering his head, looking distracted.
“You omegas are really too arrogant, huh? Do you really think you can beat alphas? We’re just letting you win, don’t flatter yourselves!”
The more Ross spoke, the more he lost his sense of propriety, completely ignoring the pain in his body, strutting around like a peacock showing off its feathers.
Jiang Yao waited until he finished speaking before raising his head. He patted the dust off his pants with his fingers, his innocent eyes carrying an unfathomable depth as he looked at Ross’s leering gaze and suddenly laughed.
“Not afraid of death? I’ll oblige you.” He crossed his hands, his knuckles cracking loudly. Seeing that Jiang Yao was about to lose control, Xie Chen quickly kicked Ross away before Jiang Yao could make a move.
Jiang Yao stood coldly in place, his emerald green eyes devoid of any emotion as he stared at the sweat-covered Xie Chen. His thin lips parted slightly, “I thought you were really going to let me handle it.”
“What’s gotten into you today?”
Jiang Yao’s mood was off, and Xie Chen didn’t dare let him continue fighting. After all, if something happened, he would be held responsible.
Jiang Yao closed his eyes, the light casting shadows on his fair face. After a while, he returned to his lazy demeanor and smiled at Xie Chen, “Nothing.”
There was no need to mention that bastard.
His lying skills weren’t particularly high, but they were enough to fool the brainless Xie Chen.
Xie Chen’s gaze darkened slightly as he looked at Jiang Yao, his lips curling into a smile, but he didn’t say anything to spoil the mood.
“Where do you want to go?”
The lights were dazzling, and the noise of the crowd’s revelry filled the air. People who usually looked down on each other were now united in this intense atmosphere.
Jiang Yao squinted his eyes, a deep-seated disgust hidden in their depths. His slender fingers hung loosely in the breeze, his hair, soft like cotton candy, swaying with the wind. A few strands of black hair fell by his ears, making him look even more delicate and beautiful from the side.
The leaves danced in the light, moving to the cheers of the crowd. Jiang Yao rubbed his aching temples with his fingers, not wanting to stay here any longer.
“Anywhere is fine, just get me out of here.”
Xie Chen had originally planned to have fun here with Jiang Yao, but seeing his clear displeasure, he decided to change the location. Suddenly grabbing Jiang Yao’s wrist, his cat-like eyes widened in surprise before returning to normal.
“There are too many people. I’m afraid we’ll get separated.”
The crowd was so dense that even holding Jiang Yao’s hand, they were easily pushed apart.
Realizing Jiang Yao was gone, Xie Chen quickly turned around, squinting his eyes as he tried to find him in the sea of people.
Xie Chen’s eyes, smeared with random eyeshadow, were on the verge of tears. Jiang Yao stood coldly in the middle of the crowd; his cat-like eyes quickly spotted Xie Chen, who was a bit far away.
Biting his pink lips with his white teeth, Jiang Yao’s emerald eyes half-closed as he pondered how to get to Xie Chen.
After a few minutes of serious thinking, Jiang Yao calculated the shortest route and squeezed into the crowded path, determined to reach his destination.
Focused on walking, Jiang Yao didn’t notice the tall figure suddenly appearing in front of him. It wasn’t until he bumped his head into the person’s chest that he looked up in surprise, his round, lake-like eyes appearing especially clear and transparent amidst the monsters and demons.
The person he bumped into was tall, like a walking clothes rack. Jiang Yao stared coldly at the masked face, feeling a strange sense of familiarity despite his usual difficulty remembering faces.
It seemed… they had a connection, but it was invisible and intangible.
“Be careful.” Yan Heng grabbed Jiang Yao’s shoulder, his voice deep and elegant like a cello. Jiang Yao’s eyes turned into crescent moons as he smiled and nodded in thanks.
Their fingers touched briefly, and Yan Heng suddenly smelled a very sweet scent. His dark eyebrows raised slightly, his gaze lingering on the little friend who barely reached his ears.
“Little friend, you should go home. It’s not safe out here.” Monsters and demons loved to prey on these clean-looking kids.
Jiang Yao didn’t get angry at being mistaken for a younger age. He gave Yan Heng a sweet smile, “Thank you for your help.” His manners were impeccable, his fair face like exquisite porcelain, flawless. Combined with his clothes, Yan Heng was certain this was a well-cared-for little friend.
Probably raised in a honey pot, even fed with sweet honey.
Xie Chen finally made his way through the crowd to Jiang Yao, his eyes wide with shock at seeing Jiang Yao in a stranger’s arms, nearly scared out of his wits.
Xie Chen’s expression was so terrified that even Jiang Yao couldn’t help but glance at him, his emerald eyes confused as he tilted his head, his fair neck appearing even more delicate and white against his black hair.
“Yao!” The priority was to get Jiang Yao back.
Yan Heng’s eyes darkened slightly, gently pushing Jiang Yao’s shoulder. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he spoke. His deep laughter was like the low notes of a cello, making Jiang Yao unconsciously rub his ears, the tips turning slightly red.
“Is he looking for you?”
His gaze swept over the colorfully dressed Xie Chen, his eyebrows furrowing involuntarily, his dark eyes scrutinizing the about-to-explode Xie Chen.
Not only did Xie Chen dislike this invasive gaze, but even Jiang Yao didn’t have much fondness for it. Jiang Yao stepped out of the boy’s embrace, his smile devoid of genuine emotion.
“Thanks. Goodbye.”
Jiang Yao was about to run, but Yan Heng’s smile froze. He instinctively reached out and grabbed Jiang Yao’s delicate wrist. Seeing Jiang Yao’s puzzled expression, he realized what he had done.
To cover his embarrassment, Yan Heng cleared his throat and addressed the almost-crying Xie Chen, “Little friend, as an omega, you shouldn’t be out with alphas. It’s not safe.”
Even if you do go out, don’t associate with these obviously bad alphas.
Hearing this, Xie Chen’s hair stood on end. He was about to argue with this obviously ill-intentioned person, but the usually non-confrontational Jiang Yao grabbed his hand and walked away!
Pulled away, Xie Chen looked at Jiang Yao, who seemed unfazed, with a pitiful expression. He opened his mouth but swallowed his words.
“Let’s go. I’ll take you somewhere fun.”
A ten-minute walk took half an hour due to the crowd. Jiang Yao stood at the entrance of a bar, feeling the bad vibes, unsure how to react.
He shouldn’t have had any expectations for Xie Chen’s intelligence. After all, curing a level ten intellectual disability wasn’t easy. Just after getting him out of the square, he brought him to a bar? Honestly, his second brother wouldn’t be wrong to beat him to death.
Jiang Yao made a gagging gesture at Xie Chen’s pitiful expression.
Pulling his slender fingers away, Jiang Yao took out a few small, silver rings from somewhere, each engraved with twisted snakes.
The rings weren’t big, but the snarling snakes scared many people. Jiang Yao’s emerald eyes lowered slightly, lost in thought.
Xie Chen squinted, his long fingers lifting Jiang Yao’s chin, his gaze unreadable.
“What’s this for?”
“Have you thought about how I’ll get eaten alive if I go in dressed like this?”
Jiang Yao was exasperated, accepting the fact that Xie Chen’s brain didn’t work well.
“But… this makes people want to kidnap you even more…”
