Daddy, Mommy Ran Away - Chapter 189 - Wanting to Leave
Nuan Qianqing released An Ruoxi, who was still in a daze, and walked over to Shen Jun. She smiled at him and blinked playfully, “Didn’t you hear me clearly? I called her Ruoxi, was that wrong?”
“Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness!” Shen Jun exclaimed, his eyes wide with disbelief. “Then what do you call me?”
Nuan Qianqing chuckled at Shen Jun’s playful demeanor, “Brother Jun, it’s been years. How have you been?”
She opened her arms and embraced him fully, “I’m sorry, I actually forgot my dear Brother Jun who cared for me the most. I’m sorry for making you worry.”
“Sister Qing! You’ve really remembered me! I’m so happy, everything’s alright now!” Shen Jun said, patting her back excitedly.
“Yes.” Nuan Qianqing felt genuinely happy, her gaze fell on Leng Haoyin, and she smiled knowingly. Then, as was customary, she reached out to hug him, but her eyes lingered on An Ruoxi’s still delighted face, and she said playfully, “Ruoxi, you don’t mind if I hug Brother Yin, do you? He’s always been my good Elder Brother.”
“He’s always been your Brother Yin, you have every right to hug him,” An Ruoxi replied sincerely.
“All is well,” Leng Haoyin felt deeply moved too.
The solution to the problem lay with the one who caused it. When she appeared in the hospital room, everything was resolved.
“Ruoxi,” Nuan Qianqing gently took her hand and placed it in her palm, looking at her with deep apology, “I’m really sorry for what happened back then. I was too selfish.”
“No, I should thank you,” An Ruoxi said sincerely, “If it weren’t for you, by some twist of fate, I wouldn’t have met Haoyin, nor would I have had the chance to love, understand, and be with him.”
“Oh, come on, now’s the time to be happy, not to dwell on who owes whom an apology!” Shen Jun shouted, breaking the dull topic among the three.
The three shared a knowing smile.
No one noticed that the person lying on the hospital bed had eyelashes that trembled slightly, showing signs of waking up.
“Xiaoqing, what are your plans? About Brother Zuo…” An Ruoxi’s gaze shifted from her side to the direction of the hospital bed.
Hearing this, Nuan Qianqing paused for a moment, then forced a slight smile, a hint of bitterness in her expression. “What’s his real name?”
She had always called him Zuozuo, and he had always called her Youyou.
“Zuo Junchen, he’s my older male cousin,” An Ruoxi replied truthfully.
“Zuo Junchen…” she murmured softly, her eyes lowered, hiding the complexity and longing in them. When she lifted her gaze again, clarity had returned. “Zuo Junchen is such a nice name. I’ll remember it, though I might forget it soon. I’ve really thought it through. I want to go back to America. Mom, is that okay? I want to stay with you all.”
“Silly child, mommy would love for you to stay with us every day! Alright, we’ll go back to America tomorrow. Your daddy will be so happy to know you’re well!” Nuan Qianqing’s mom was so happy that tears kept falling.
“Before we leave, I want to see Xuanhan. Brother Yin, is that okay?” Nuan Qianqing’s hands twisted together nervously as she looked at Leng Haoyin.
“He’s your son. Even if you want to take him with you, I will respect your decision,” Leng Haoyin said thoughtfully.
“No,” Nuan Qianqing shook her head, pain evident on her conflicted face, her voice raw with bitterness. “I don’t have the face to see him. I just want to take a quick look at him, and that will be enough.”
As a mother, she had never fulfilled her responsibilities over the years, and she even… she didn’t deserve to be Xuanhan’s mother.
“Xiaoqing, none of this is your fault. Don’t blame yourself. Xuanhan likes you very much. He will come to accept you gradually. Don’t lose hope,” An Ruoxi comforted her, patting her shoulder gently.
“Stop comforting me. Can you take me to see the child? I want to see him while he’s asleep.”
“Okay, I’ll take you.”
In the end, Leng Haoyin took Nuan Qianqing to Ouyang Pei’s villa on the hillside, while An Ruoxi stayed behind to care for Zuo Junchen.
No one noticed that the person on the hospital bed, whose fingers were stained with tears, moved them slightly. His eyelids slowly opened, and in his confusion, a sorrowful melody wrapped around him, refusing to let go… A tear quietly slipped down the corner of his eye.
