Daddy, Mommy Ran Away - Chapter 183 - Tear Mole
After much coaxing from An Ruoxi, Nuan Qianqing finally fell asleep with tears in her eyes, just as her parents returned.
Two nurses watched over the room, while Leng Haoyin took the three children to the blood drawing room.
“Now, you three, along with mommy and daddy, will have a health check-up. This uncle will draw blood for testing. Are you scared?” Leng Haoyin crouched down to meet the eyes of the three children sitting on the chairs. To avoid arousing Xuanhan’s suspicion, he decided all five of them would have their blood drawn, treating it as a routine check-up.
“Daddy, I’m scared of the pain,” Xuanhan said shyly, his small face showing a hint of fear as he lowered his head. “Can’t we skip the blood drawing?”
“A little man shouldn’t be afraid of pain. Why don’t you ask Xiaobao if he’s scared?” An Ruoxi crouched down beside him, holding his small hand and gently encouraging him.
From a young age, she taught her two children not to fear pain and to be brave, and they never disappointed her.
“That’s right, little brother, I’m not scared at all, and brother is even braver, right, brother?” Xiaobei courageously rolled up her sleeve, revealing her chubby little arm.
“Yeah, a man shouldn’t be afraid of pain. Xuanhan, you shouldn’t be scared either,” Xiaobao nodded, joining in the encouragement. “Be good and let uncle draw your blood, and tonight I’ll teach you how to drive a go-kart.”
“Really?” Xuanhan’s face lit up at the mention of go-karts. “I also want to rebuild my robot.”
“Alright, I promise.”
“Okay then,” Xuanhan looked up. “Daddy, mommy, I’m not scared anymore. Let uncle draw the blood.”
“Good boy.” An Ruoxi patted the heads of the three children, feeling particularly gratified. Her mind wandered back to Nuan Qianqing’s words about the Tear Mole under the left eye.
The term “Tear Mole” reverberated in her mind, lingering and refusing to fade. Her thoughts automatically conjured a familiar face, leaving her stunned and hesitant.
In a past life, unwilling to part, the tears left on the cheek transformed into a Tear Mole, a mark for finding you in this life. Those with a Tear Mole are alluring yet sorrowful, and lonely.
Though his sparkling eyes were carefree, the unintentional sadness in his gaze wove a web that tugged at the heart.
This was why An Ruoxi, knowing Zuo Junchen was a notorious playboy, could still genuinely interact with him, unafraid of any ill intentions, because his eyes were clear.
The more flirtatious he was, the brighter his smile, yet the more sorrowful he seemed, merely trying to mask the sadness and loneliness emanating from his core.
Realizing this, she looked at Xuanhan’s face and saw an uncanny resemblance to Xiaoqing, and indeed, he bore a striking likeness to him-the eyebrows, eyes, nose, even the way he frowned was identical.
“Hanqi, how’s it going? When can we expect the results?” Leng Haoyin discussed privately with Hanqi in the office. “Is there any chance of finding something?”
“The test results will be available tomorrow. Whether we can find anything depends on whether the gene bank contains that person’s DNA. I’ll give you an answer tomorrow.”
“Alright, as soon as possible. Excuse me, I need to take a call.” Leng Haoyin’s phone rang, and upon seeing the caller ID, his brow furrowed slightly as he answered. Before he could speak, Ye Hanhe’s unusually excited voice came through: “Zuo Corporation’s stock price is plummeting. Where’s the money?”
“What!” Leng Haoyin was taken aback. “Didn’t you say it would happen tomorrow? How did it happen so quickly? Did he sell that piece of land?”
“Yes, and just now, he fired several old-timers who disagreed with him. The Zuo Corporation’s board is in turmoil, demanding a change of Chairman. Zuo Junchen hasn’t responded, and a large number of stocks are being sold off. I think he’s already started to absorb them. What are you planning to do?”
“Then hurry up and compete with him. Use my money as a front.”
“Scoff, as you wish. I’ve already used of emotions.
“Nothing, you take the kids home first. I need to return to the company.” He glanced down at the three pairs of eyes looking up at him, choosing not to explain. Business matters were not something he wanted to discuss in front of the children, preferring to give them a carefree childhood.
“Oh, alright.” An Ruoxi’s brows furrowed slightly before relaxing. She had overheard something about Zuo Corporation earlier. “Come back early.”
She decided not to discuss it in front of the children, trusting him.
…
Zuo Corporation, President’s Office.
On the massive LCD screen, data fluctuated wildly.
Behind the office chair, a tall figure remained motionless, eyes fixed on the screen, like a snow-capped mountain in a frozen landscape, surrounded by air so cold it seemed to crystallize.
Suddenly, a loud bang shattered the icy atmosphere as the office door was forcibly flung open, accompanied by a wave of anger.
A group of hurried individuals stormed in.
“Mr. Zuo, yesterday you unilaterally halted the first phase of the Golden Triangle investment plan, plunging Zuo Corporation into an unprecedented crisis. How could you auction off that piece of land today without board approval?” A middle-aged shareholder’s angry shout filled the room as soon as he entered.
The frigid air was instantly shattered by the outburst. The man in the executive chair shifted his sharp gaze from the screen to the furious group, scanning them with a calm demeanor, his tall figure remaining unmoved.
“The stock price is plummeting. Shouldn’t you provide a reasonable explanation? At this rate, we’ll go bankrupt!” Another shareholder vented his anger, disregarding any decorum, as their interests were threatened, prompting collective outrage.
“Mr. Zuo, we are in business, not playing house. You insisted on bidding for that land, and now you’re openly transferring it, effectively admitting to stealing Leng Corporation’s secrets.”
“Reckless, utterly reckless. You’re not saving the company; you’re pushing it into a dead end!”
