Daddy, Mommy Ran Away - Chapter 166 - The Bride is Moli
“What?!” An Ruoxi practically leapt off the sofa, her wide eyes filled with shock as she stared at Shen Jun and exclaimed, “Did you just say your bride is Moli?”
“Yep.” Shen Jun’s almond-shaped eyes glimmered with an enigmatic smile. He looked at her and nodded with an exaggerated seriousness.
An Ruoxi’s delicate brows arched slightly, her finely sculpted face twisting into a puzzled expression. She turned to Leng Haoyin and asked, “Is it my ears that have a problem, or is it his brain?” Her slender finger pointed at Shen Jun, who was lounging lazily on the sofa.
“Darling, your ears are perfectly fine. It’s his brain that’s malfunctioning,” Leng Haoyin replied, his handsome face radiating disdain, clearly unimpressed by Shen Jun’s antics.
“Hey! You two are the ones with issues, not me! I’m being completely serious this time!” Shen Jun spat in their direction, his tone growing increasingly agitated as he shouted, “I need to get married-immediately! If I wait even one more day, I’ll suffocate to death. Ruoxi, I need your help. You’re the only one who can help me!”
“Uh…” An Ruoxi was utterly baffled, like a monk trying to fathom a scripture he’d never seen before. Her confusion deepened as she asked, “But… wasn’t the girl you liked the one who showed up at the hotel last time?”
She remembered vividly, especially because that girl had striking ice-blue eyes, reminiscent of the ocean. Shen Jun had even jumped off a building to chase her-clearly, he was smitten.
“Ruoxi, even you noticed?” Shen Jun’s almond-shaped eyes lit up instantly, sparkling with hope. But just as quickly, his handsome face drooped like a frostbitten eggplant. “If even you can tell, why is it that some women are so dense they can’t see that I like them?”
“That’s because you’re asking for it,” Leng Haoyin said, sipping his drink with a hint of schadenfreude. “When she chased after you before, you couldn’t care less. Now that she doesn’t like you anymore, you’re pulling out all the stops-even resorting to these ridiculous schemes.”
“Hey-!” Shen Jun’s temper flared instantly, as if someone had doused him with cold water. He roared at Leng Haoyin, “What kind of friend are you? I’m in this mess, and instead of helping, you’re making fun of me. Talk about poor judgment in choosing friends!”
“Alright, alright. What do you need us to do?” A faint smile tugged at Leng Haoyin’s firm lips as he possessively wrapped his arm around An Ruoxi’s waist, teasing, “Go ahead, spill.”
“I need a bride. And this bride has to be someone who doesn’t like me and won’t cling to me. After thinking it over, I realized Zhan Tianxiang’s younger sister is the perfect candidate. Sure, I could pay someone to be my bride, but what if that woman ends up latching onto me in the future? Ye Zixi is too smart-if I don’t marry someone familiar, she’ll definitely see through my plan and refuse to crash the wedding. That would ruin everything. So, after racking my brains, I figured Tianxiang’s sister is my best bet.”
“What? You want Moli to help you stage this act?” An Ruoxi finally pieced together the conversation between the two men. Her eyes widened to the size of saucers, and her brows furrowed tightly. “But will Moli even agree to this?”
“Ruoxi, I bet you have no idea about something,” Shen Jun said, his smile full of mischief, his expression as sly as a fox. “That kid Mai Shuo is totally smitten with Zhan Tianxiang’s younger sister. He’s been trailing her like a puppy, wagging his tail all day long. But he’s stubborn as a mule and won’t admit he’s fallen for her.”
An Ruoxi had heard about this, but what did it have to do with his fake wedding?
“But Tianxiang’s younger sister seems to hate Mai Shuo,” Shen Jun continued, his tone dripping with secrecy. “She looks like she can’t wait to kick him to the curb. Still, I’m convinced that’s just surface-level stuff. If Tianxiang’s younger sister agrees to marry me, I guarantee…”
He chuckled darkly, his laughter carrying a hint of scheming. Two birds with one stone. A win-win situation.
…
“Will this really work?” After hearing Shen Jun’s entire plan, An Ruoxi still felt uncertain. Wasn’t this a bit too risky?
“Leave it to me. If no one comes to crash the wedding, then we might as well get married ourselves. After all, we’re just two pitiful souls nobody wants. Might as well find solace in each other.” If even his wedding couldn’t lure her out, then it wouldn’t matter who he married.
“Alright, let’s give it a shot,” An Ruoxi said, starting to feel a little excited herself. The more she thought about it, the more feasible the plan seemed. If she could hold a wedding alongside Moli, that would be absolutely perfect…
“Let’s call Tianxiang too. We haven’t had a proper gathering with the Four Gentlemen since he got back.”
“Then I’ll invite Qiuling as well.”
“Hey, what’s going on with those two?”
…
As night fell, the city shed its daytime hustle and bustle, diving headfirst into the Crazy Night. Multicolored neon lights flickered, bearing witness to the night’s vibrant splendor.
Inside the presidential suite of the “Crazy Night” KTV, the room buzzed with noise. The dim lighting created an atmosphere that was both mysterious and alluring.
When Moli walked in, a certain “tail” followed closely behind her.
The eyes of everyone in the room immediately turned to the pair, their expressions betraying a knowing amusement.
“Ruoxi, tonight I’m going to sing my heart out with you-three hundred rounds if I have to. Life has been way too frustrating lately,” Moli said, casually tossing her bag onto the sofa before plopping down beside An Ruoxi.
“What are you so frustrated about? You look positively radiant, like a big, shiny apple,” An Ruoxi teased, stealing a glance at the tall figure who had followed Moli in. A mischievous smile crept onto her lips as she leaned in to whisper in Moli’s ear, “Could it be you’re having some romantic luck?”
Moli froze for a moment, catching the playful glint in Ruoxi’s eyes. She shot her a glare and snapped, “Romantic luck? My face is red because I’m furious, okay?”
“Who could possibly have the power to make you so mad your cheeks are glowing? This person must be quite something,” An Ruoxi said, her gaze drifting toward Mai Shuo, who had been dragged onto the stage by Shen Jun to sing a heartbreak ballad.
“You’re making fun of me, aren’t you?” Moli gritted her teeth in frustration, glaring at An Ruoxi. She pulled her closer and muttered under her breath, “That guy-he follows me around every single day. I’m about to lose my mind. You know how much I hate being pestered, and yet my dad, that stubborn old man, keeps pushing me toward him. Ugh, I’m going to explode!”
“Want to get rid of him that badly?” Seeing Moli’s flustered attempts to explain, An Ruoxi’s big, bright eyes sparkled with mischief.
“More than anything, my dear young lady Ruoxi,” Moli said, her face a picture of helplessness and exasperation.
“I might just have a solution. Come with me.” An Ruoxi grabbed her hand and led her out into the hallway.
