- Chapter 51 - Senior, I Haven't Even Used Vitalis Martial Transformation Yet...
After Gao Liangxiong left, several hunters around turned their attention to Lin Xiao.
“Do you know that Big Bear? Are you also a junior?” asked a woman with shoulder-length curly hair and a cold demeanor, sitting to Lin Xiao’s left.
“Yes,” Lin Xiao nodded. “Big Bear” must be Gao Liangxiong’s nickname.
A male hunter with a buzz cut, sitting across from Gao Liangxiong, also gave Lin Xiao a once-over and asked curiously, “Between you and Big Bear… who ranks higher in your grade?”
“His ranking is higher…” Lin Xiao replied with a dry smile. His own ranking was embarrassingly low, even among his entire grade, he was dead last-something he was reluctant to admit.
“That’s not good…” The curly-haired female hunter shook her head, speaking seriously, “It’s not to look down on juniors, but you should hone your skills in Sequence 5 rather than aiming too high.”
The male hunter pointed at Gao Liangxiong on the arena and continued, “That Big Bear is quite decent in Sequence 5, but here… he’s barely a punching bag.”
“Alright… aren’t there any strong students in Sequence 4?” Lin Xiao asked curiously, wondering if Sequence 4 was filled with hunters.
“There are certainly skilled ones in the senior year, but among juniors…” The female hunter tapped the armrest and said decisively, “There’s probably only the ‘Ice Princess.'”
“Ice Princess?”
“We call her that,” the male hunter clarified, tapping the armrest. “Her nickname is ‘Bai Xue,’ and she’s really strong. Even in the Sequence 4 arena, she’s a top-tier fighter.”
“Even…” The male hunter pointed to the ceiling, speaking with a deep tone, “If she gets serious, she could hold her own in Sequence 3.”
Sequence 3, isn’t that C-level hunters?
Lin Xiao was taken aback. He seemed to know who this “Ice Princess” was. Ranked second in the grade, just behind Zhuang Jianyu, a true Ability User.
“She should be here soon. She likes the No. 2 arena…” The curly-haired female hunter glanced at Lin Xiao, advising, “Watch Big Bear’s performance carefully and think twice before deciding to step in.”
Lin Xiao nodded humbly, looking up at the big screen displaying the stats of both fighters.
Name: Ghost Tiger
Occupation: Hunter (D Rank)
Wins: 73
Total Matches: 105
Name: Big Bear
Occupation: Student (Junior)
Wins: 1
Total Matches: 22
…
The battle on the arena was overwhelmingly one-sided.
Gao Liangxiong had unleashed his full vitalis, displaying his strength to the fullest extent. But even so, his strength in Sequence 4 was merely “adequate.”
In terms of agility and technique, he probably didn’t even reach the average line, making him quite clumsy.
His opponent, the seasoned hunter-Ghost Tiger.
Under Gao Liangxiong’s relentless assault, Ghost Tiger dodged and evaded, occasionally counterattacking, with a demeanor as calm as a gentle breeze.
Lin Xiao guessed he hadn’t even used his vitalis filling.
The fight had dragged on likely because Ghost Tiger was giving some leeway, recognizing Gao Liangxiong as a junior, offering a bit of guidance rather than letting his efforts go to waste.
Soon, five minutes passed, and Ghost Tiger began his offensive.
Bang! Bang! Bang…
His fists were like rapid-fire bullets, one punch after another, pounding against the massive body of Gao Liangxiong. Each blow connected and retracted instantly, without any pause.
Gao Liangxiong could hardly dodge; he could only shield himself with his arms, enduring the relentless barrage of punches.
Just as the female hunter had told Lin Xiao, he became a large “punching bag,” unable to even strike back.
Bang-!
Finally, with a knee strike from his opponent, Gao Liangxiong grunted, his legs buckled, and he collapsed straight down.
Five seconds later.
“Congratulations to Ghost Tiger for successfully defending the arena!”
“Oh-!”
Cheers and applause erupted, mingled with some teasing remarks about Gao Liangxiong.
“Hahaha! Big Bear lasted a bit longer this time.”
“This kid is too naive, totally unafraid of getting hit!”
“Being a junior and performing like this is already impressive! Next year he might catch up with these hunters!”
“Keep it up-! The future is promising, the future is promising!”
…
A medical team carried Gao Liangxiong off the stage, and the female host approached the hunter, asking respectfully:
“Ghost Tiger, would you like to continue defending the arena, or end the challenge?”
“Defend the Arena.”
Ghost Tiger’s breathing was as calm as usual, as if the fight had barely been a warm-up.
“Alright! Let us invite the next contestant to the stage!”
From the contestants’ area, Lin Xiao stood up.
Facing the hunters who were staring intently at him, Lin Xiao scratched his cheek, slightly embarrassed, and said:
“Seniors, may I give it a try? It should be over quickly…”
“Hmph…” a curly-haired female hunter snorted softly, muttering under her breath, “These students these days, so many hardheads.”
“Go on, then! Take a beating and learn from it…”
The buzz-cut male hunter waved his hand dismissively, looking straight into the student’s eyes, offering earnest advice.
The other contestants also shifted their gaze, implicitly allowing his participation.
“Alright, thank you, seniors! I’m heading up now.”
Lin Xiao nodded politely, turned, and walked briskly towards the arena.
…
“Alright, let us welcome the new challenger… ‘Ash’!”
As the female host announced, the big screen displayed Lin Xiao’s contestant information.
Name: Ash
Occupation: Student (Junior)
Wins: 0
Total Matches: 0
As another junior entered the fray, the audience began murmuring among themselves.
“Hey! Another naive student!”
“Ah… it’s only interesting when they’re seniors; juniors are too early.”
“Maybe he’s got the same strength as ‘Ice Princess’?”
“Bai Xue is the top among students, not just anyone can compare!”
“Cool nickname though? Hope he’s at least stronger than Big Bear…”
…
“Another student?”
Ghost Tiger shook his head in resignation, stating flatly:
“Just to be clear… Big Bear has exhausted my patience, and I don’t feel like holding back anymore.”
“Understood.”
Lin Xiao acknowledged with a proper attitude.
“Ah…” Ghost Tiger sighed and gestured, “Come on then, attack me, and I’ll indulge you for two more minutes.”
It seemed the hunter was tough on the outside but soft on the inside, speaking sternly yet still willing to give the young man a chance.
Respecting such kind-hearted seniors, Lin Xiao crouched slightly and warned:
“Senior, here I come!”
As soon as Ghost Tiger nodded, Lin Xiao’s figure vanished from the spot. The hunter’s eyes narrowed, slightly surprised at the proximity of the student.
Bang-!
Lin Xiao’s straight punch was blocked by Ghost Tiger’s arm as solid as a rock. After gauging the force, Ghost Tiger exclaimed:
“You’ve initiated your Vitalis Martial Transformation very smoothly, and your power, speed, and technique are all better than Big Bear. Not bad.”
“Senior…” Lin Xiao blinked and chuckled lightly, “I haven’t used my vitalis yet.”
“…?”
Ghost Tiger paused, then his eyes widened in disbelief.
“Now, I’m starting the Martial Transformation…”
Following that, liquid vitalis surged out, and terrifying strength instantly filled his entire body!
