- Chapter 46 - The Sky-Towering Giant
The giant screen displayed the contestant’s information-
Name: Chai Shenghao
Occupation: Civilian
Wins: 109
Total Matches: 131
Surprisingly, the audience’s cheers were not enthusiastic; many even frowned.
“Is that the lunatic? It’s over! Can Lin Xiao surrender?”
“That Chai Shenghao used to be a soldier, I remember he was dismissed for serious misconduct, and even the Hunter Association has blacklisted him.”
“He’s scum! If he were a civilian, he would have been sentenced to death long ago!”
“He hits hard, last time he disfigured someone and likes to fight dirty!”
“The dojo should kick him out! He’s just an animal!”
“What’s wrong? His strength speaks for itself!”
“Right! If you’re up on the arena and still complain about someone hitting hard, just surrender if you’re scared!”
…
It seems this man is quite controversial, with the audience’s opinions divided.
Mostly negative, but some admire his strength regardless of his character.
“…Alright, welcome the challenger, Mr. Chai Shenghao! This man is a regular victor, one of the first from Sequence 5…”
The female host managed a forced smile, her tone revealing a hint of reluctance.
Even Lin Xiao could tell she seemed to dislike this man.
The warriors in the contestant seats made no secret of their disdain, some of the female contestants looked at him as if he were trash.
“You welcome me… let’s chat privately, I’m stronger than you think…”
Chai Shenghao raised an eyebrow at the female host with a meaningful smirk, appearing particularly sleazy.
The host’s face instantly cooled, she remained silent, and quietly left the arena, leaving the stage to the contestants.
‘Being dismissed from the military, there’s definitely a reason…’ Lin Xiao thought silently.
Normally, every hunter and soldier is a treasure to the nation, endowed with generous salaries and many social privileges.
Minor offenses are hardly pursued.
Unless it’s a major crime or repeated defiance, disciplinary actions are generally not taken.
Human society has given warriors the highest level of tolerance…
This man, perhaps, was more disgusting than Lin Xiao had imagined.
Lin Xiao rubbed his wrist, his gaze turning icy.
“Shall we start?”
“You little rascal… can’t wait to get beaten up, huh?”
Chai Shenghao’s face twisted into a vicious cold sneer as he lunged forward, his steps wild, like a rampaging beast.
In the blink of an eye, the two-meter-tall giant was in front of Lin Xiao.
“I’m going to smash your skull!”
A fist, nearly the size of a normal human head, tore through the air like a steel hammer aimed to split skulls, swinging down ferociously toward Lin Xiao’s head.
“Ah-!”
A gasp swept through the spectator seats, some even covering their mouths, as if they couldn’t bear to see his head shattered.
The iron fist was already crashing down, the opponent’s brutal and ugly face filling his vision.
Lin Xiao’s expression was indifferent, standing still, showing no sign of dodging.
This look, in Chai Shenghao’s eyes, was a sign of resignation.
His smile grew more excited and bloodthirsty, as if he saw the scene of the opponent’s bones collapsing and eyeballs bursting.
Bang-!
“…Huh?”
The grotesque giant was taken aback; things hadn’t unfolded as he’d anticipated.
A slender, pale hand had caught his fist.
Compared to his iron-like punch, this hand seemed so fragile and delicate, as if a slight force could shatter it.
Yet, his fist couldn’t move forward, as if it had hit an immovable wall, unwavering and unyielding.
Now, that wall was closing in, crushing his bones.
Snap-
With vitalis filling his body, Lin Xiao, in Hunter Mode, clenched his fingers with terrifying strength, instantly shattering the bones in Chai Shenghao’s hand, the chilling sound of breaking bones echoing.
“Aaaahhhh-!”
Chai Shenghao’s eyes bulged, his face contorted in agony, turning a shade of liver red.
Finding his opponent’s screams unbearably grating, Lin Xiao delivered a punch to his head.
Bang-!
The scream was abruptly cut off, a row of shattered teeth flew out, facial bones collapsed and fractured, blood sprayed from his mouth and nose.
Chai Shenghao’s eyes rolled back, his body went limp, and he began to fall forward.
But Lin Xiao had no intention of letting him hit the ground.
As his body slumped, a knee strike, swift as a shadow and carrying immense force, shot upwards, slamming into his abdomen.
Boom-!
It was as if an explosive had detonated, unleashing a terrifying impact.
Over a thousand spectators, the warriors in the contestant seats, the female host, and all the staff present.
At that moment, they all stared wide-eyed, dumbfounded at the “spectacle” in the arena.
The giant was airborne.
The over two-meter-tall giant seemed to defy gravity, soaring straight up into the sky, climbing higher and higher.
In the sky, Chai Shenghao’s mouth gaped open, stomach acid and blood spewing out like a gushing hot spring.
The giant’s body ascended nearly ten meters.
As he neared the top of the arena’s screen, he… stopped, then plummeted sharply, crashing down to the ground!
Lin Xiao didn’t bother looking up; he simply took a few steps forward, avoiding the falling debris.
Thud-!
A heavy thud sounded behind him, even causing the floor to tremble slightly.
Without needing to check, Lin Xiao knew the opponent wouldn’t be getting up.
This was the first time he’d gone all out.
At Military University, even with the most annoying classmates, he never really went hard on them, at most leaving them bedridden for a day.
But when facing genuine scum, Lin Xiao felt there was no need to hold back.
He wouldn’t die, but he’d certainly be close to useless.
Five seconds passed.
Lin Xiao turned his head, somewhat surprised, looking at the host.
Why hadn’t she announced his victory yet?
The usually professional and perpetually smiling female host stood quietly to the side, staring blankly at the giant sprawled on the ground.
Her lipstick-covered lips slightly parted, her beautiful eyes blinking, seemingly filled with wonder, fear, and… delight.
“Ahem!”
“Ah!”
With Lin Xiao’s light cough, the host snapped out of her daze, hurriedly grabbing the microphone, almost dropping it in her haste.
“…The winner of this match-Lin Xiao! Let’s congratulate him on successfully defending the arena!”
Though a bit flustered, the host’s professionalism shone through, her clear and high-pitched voice resonating throughout the venue.
Thanks to her, the audience snapped out of their stupor.
A wave of cheers erupted, so loud it seemed to shake the ceiling.
“Oh-!”
“Lin Xiao-! Lin Xiao-! Lin Xiao-!”n
“Honey! Come see this miracle!”
“Awesome-! Lin Xiao-! Awesome-!”
“My God! This will shock my family for a month!”
“So cool! So fierce! Wow-!”
“That kick made my shorts wet with awe!”
“Lin Xiao-! Big sis loves you-!”
…
Amidst the cheers and whistles, the female host approached Lin Xiao, her smile even more radiant and genuine than before.
“Will you choose to continue defending the arena, or will you forfeit the challenge?”
“Defend the arena.”
Chai Shenghao was just a sideshow; nothing would derail his plan to earn money!
“Alright~! Let’s warmly welcome the next challenger to the stage!”
With the host’s sweet voice, Lin Xiao patiently awaited the next contestant.
Ten minutes later…
Lin Xiao blinked innocently.
Huh… why is no one stepping up?
