Billionaire's Pursuit: My Sweetheart - Chapter 19 - Why Men Make It Hard for Women
The man had intentionally bumped into her.
Under the crystal chandelier, Rong Guxi, dressed in a dark cyan silk shirt, wore a splendid necklace. A sturdy red rope held a fine piece of dark cyan jade, which brightly fell against his firm neck, casting a serene glow and accentuating his enchantingly wicked demeanor.
Rong Guxi was like the finest hunter, his expression cold as he stared at Gu Yiren. “Trying to leave? Where do you think you’re running off to?”
Gu Yiren managed to squeeze out a radiant smile, but she was momentarily paralyzed.
Rong Guxi slowly approached her. If it weren’t for such a woman constantly playing games over his head, he might have admired her composure at this moment.
Suddenly, Rong Guxi firmly grasped her throat and violently threw her into the car.
His proactive strike was overly sudden, catching Gu Yiren off guard and causing her to wince in pain. Rong Guxi spoke slowly, each word deliberate, “My name is Rong Guxi.”
His speech was slow yet carried a lethal danger. His eyes, slightly closed, hid a chilling fierceness-arrogant, frigid, and even venomous, like a flower dipped in poison.
Gu Yiren didn’t understand why he felt the need to personally inform her of his name.
Rong Guxi locked eyes with her tightly. “I’m telling you personally, so you know exactly who is taking your life.”
Gu Yiren turned as pale as a ghost. She could see that this man was serious; he truly intended to kill her. He was not a man to joke around, devoid of any sense of humor, his words always resulting in action.
He gripped her throat tightly, needing only a slight movement to snap her neck forcefully.
Gu Yiren suddenly smiled.
Her smile was radiant, like a beautifully blooming snow lotus.
“Young Master Rong, even if you want to silence someone, you should choose a better place,” Gu Yiren said, admiring her own courage. Perhaps she truly had nothing left to lose, nothing to give up, thus facing the prospect of death so calmly.
She pointed at a security camera. “Xiluo City has developed very rapidly, with cameras everywhere. Young Master Rong, you wouldn’t want to complicate things for yourself.”
Young Master Rong looked at her with a fierce expression, a hint of perplexity crossing his eyes.
She was young, yet a waitress at Red Moon; that night, she wore a cheap dress and was drugged, hardly the image of a respectable lady.
Yet, this woman exuded a strong scholarly aura.
It was as if she had grown up in a scholarly family, calm and elegant, with a profound scholarly presence.
Despite her horror and trembling, she pointed at the camera and told him personally, if he wanted to silence someone, to choose a better place.
He had never encountered such a courageous woman before.
Rong Guxi quickly released Gu Yiren; she regained her freedom and steadied herself, finally breathing in the hard-to-come-by fresh air.
“Do you want to keep your life?” he suddenly changed his mind.
Such an interesting woman would be truly a pity to lose to the afterlife.
This world was exceedingly boring, and he always needed to find some amusement for himself.
“Yes!”
Gu Yiren was not foolish enough to go against her own fate. Rong Guxi was a man of his word; if he decided to let her go, it would be just a fleeting thought, regardless of any changes in his mood.
She should not, after a moment of deliberation, choose to give up a favorable opportunity.
“Your name!”
“Gu Yiren.”
