All-Class Anti-Mage - Chapter 37 - Senior Wanyu
The death of Senior Wanyu is one of the three major unsolved cases on the Firmament Continent. She was a legendary assassin with the fastest cultivation progress in the history of the Assassin Guild, completing every mission without failure. Her rank was only second to Itfane, having established her own branch through her extraordinary strength.
After Wanyu was assassinated, Itfane said, “If she had wanted, not a single red-robed bishop in the church would have slept well. If she had wanted, Wanyu’s branch would have topped the six major branches of the Assassin Guild. If she had wanted, the Assassin Guild might have even emerged from Elven City under her leadership!”
At just seventy-five years old, she became a saint-tier power, and no one on the Firmament Continent could break her cultivation record. Yet, such a talented cultivator fell at the hands of her own student, Night Wolf-a genius assassin, mysterious and never seen by anyone, who also had a flawless track record in missions.
“How could Senior Wanyu have joined the Assassin Guild? And why would Night Wolf kill her?” Yang Zhen asked, astonished. This was precisely why her death became one of the three major unsolved cases; nobody could have imagined Night Wolf would turn against his own teacher!
“My father was the former president of the Prague Mage Guild. After a quarrel, my mother left with the silver blade, claiming that her achievements would surpass his. This is the well-known Wanyu lineage on the Firmament Continent,” Roban sighed.
“I get it now; Night Wolf assassinated Senior Wanyu for the silver blade?” Yang Zhen immediately understood. Wanyu had left with the silver blade, and it was surely the reason for her rapid cultivation speed!
“Exactly. That’s why I said my mother went missing. At the scene, only the broken blade hilt was left, without her body or the broken blade edge. If she had truly died, Night Wolf would definitely not have left the broken blade hilt behind,” Roban shook his head helplessly. “Unfortunately, apart from Night Wolf, no one knows what actually happened at that time.”
“Have you still not found Night Wolf?” Yang Zhen asked with concern.
“No, it’s as if he has disappeared without a trace. He’s probably not hiding under an alias somewhere; he’s likely dead. For over twenty years, my father has been searching for my mother and Night Wolf, but he has received no news,” Roban replied. After saying this, the Mage Tower fell into silence.
Oh, silver blade, you are a deadly weapon yet filled with the life force of nature elements. What secrets do you hold? Yang Zhen gently traced the hilt of the silver blade, feeling how similar its aura was to that of the anti-magic sword in his hand.
“This is the secret of our family. No one on the Firmament Continent knows about our relationship with my mother, not even the disciples of Wanyu’s lineage. If possible, I hope you can help me find her,” Roban said, patting Yang Zhen’s hand with a smile. “Alright, the rest of the time is yours to spend with your peers.”
Yang Zhen nodded. It was just a matter of finding a missing person. Besides, he was also looking for those unknown teachers; he could look for both at once. If one of those unknown teachers turned out to be Senior Wanyu, that would be perfect.
After Roban left, the Mage Tower returned to silence. Roland gazed at Yang Zhen with affection but remained silent. With the silver blade being entrusted to Yang Zhen, their relationship was now clear. Yang Zhen affectionately ruffled her nose before preparing to study the runes on the silver blade when suddenly he remembered something.
“Hey, you noticed that the flamingo was a thirteenth-tier divine beast at the auction, didn’t you?” Yang Zhen directed his psychic consciousness towards the piglet nestled in his arms. Earlier, when the piglet had peeked out of the anti-magic cage, it had commented, “What a show-off! Boring.” However, Yang Zhen received no response; the piglet ignored him entirely.
I’m not about to let you off the hook, Yang Zhen thought, grabbing the piglet from his embrace. But before he could ask, a sharp scream from Roland startled him, almost causing him to drop the piglet.
“Wow! It’s so cute!” Roland exclaimed, snatching the rosy piglet from him. Women and girls have always had an irresistible weakness for anything adorable. Otherwise, how could the ladies in Elven City pay top amount of money for saliva piglets? This little piglet was even cuter than those.
Being cradled in Roland’s arms and massaged, the piglet finally understood why it had exerted so much energy trying to climb out of Yang Zhen’s embrace earlier. It pushed against Roland’s hands with its tiny pink hooves, its large round eyes filled with furious annoyance. Unfortunately, this utterly harmless display only made it look even more adorable.
“Quick, tell me, did you know the flamingo was a legendary beast before? Otherwise, I’ll hand you over to Lan’er to play with!” Yang Zhen immediately initiated a psychic consciousness exchange with the piglet.
“Yeah, that little bird loves playing those games. It’s so boring,” the piglet replied quickly. Upon hearing this, Yang Zhen began to believe a little of the piglet’s claims of being a legendary beast. Moreover, the flamingo had even bowed and performed a greeting before flying away, as if its gaze had been directed right at the spot where the piglet was nestled against his chest.
“Then why didn’t you tell me? You let me shout out random prices, and I overshot!” Yang Zhen was not concerned whether or not the piglet was truly a legendary beast. If Roland hadn’t been reluctant to let go of the piglet in her embrace, he would have definitely stomped on the little guy in frustration.
“Why should I tell you? Boring!” the piglet rolled its eyes, causing Yang Zhen to become even more irritated.
With that eye roll, Roland was even more unwilling to let go. She dashed out while still hugging the piglet, saying, “Yang Zhen, you focus on studying the silver blade; I’ll take him outside to play.”
“No, wait! It’s going to make you…” No one knew the piglet better than Yang Zhen. Whenever this little guy got angry, it would only do one thing. But before he could finish his sentence, Roland had already run out of the Mage Tower. Yang Zhen had no choice but to swallow the words “won’t get fed” back down.
At this point, even if he spoke until he was hoarse, Roland wouldn’t believe him. She would have to experience it for herself. Yang Zhen chuckled mischievously and then focused his attention back on the silver blade hilt.
Unlike the triangle rune on the wasted scroll, the one on the silver blade hilt exuded a sense of vitality. This difference lay in the distinction between “used” and “operational” runes. Yang Zhen had been unable to glean much from the runes on the wasted scroll.
After feeling and observing the triangle rune on the silver blade hilt, Yang Zhen gradually gained a preliminary understanding of the elemental simulation theory. This preliminary understanding was probably what Roban had mastered at the moment. Therein lay the difference: Roban had spent nearly ten years studying it himself, while Yang Zhen, thanks to his memories of the nine-element magic principles, only needed a few minutes to comprehend it!
However, Yang Zhen felt slightly disheartened, as this was all he had managed to derive from the triangle rune so far. He also noticed one thing: the reason the silver blade hilt emanated such a powerful life force was that it lacked a proper vessel to contain it.
Yang Zhen believed that the other half of the silver broken edge must have a rune as well. The complete silver blade was essentially a weapon embedded with a magic array! Oh my, isn’t this the anti-magic sword? However, the silver blade and the anti-magic sword were different in some aspects. This distinction lay not only in the difference between the absorption rune and the repulsive rune; the runes within the anti-magic sword were fighting independently and had not formed a magic array at all!
So what kind of power would an anti-magic sword that inherently contained a repulsive rune and was combined to form a magic array possess?
About the anti-magic sword, this was a crazy thought, but Yang Zhen knew he had the opportunity to validate it. He already had the star iron ore needed to forge the anti-magic sword; all he needed to do was master top-level all-element runes and find a breakthrough to become a top blacksmith!
Could it be that the teachers wanted me to use the divine scroll “Time-Space Transfer” to leave that unknown place so that I could pursue these things? Could it be that only the anti-magic sword could unlock the barriers of that location? Yang Zhen suddenly thought of this; otherwise, how could he possess abilities across almost all-element classes?
But what connection did the subclasses of beastmaster and alchemist have with the anti-magic sword? This was also a point of confusion for Yang Zhen, but he believed that as he unraveled the mystery piece by piece, the truth would eventually come to light.
Teachers, wait for me! I will definitely rescue you!
Yang Zhen calmed his excited emotions slightly, then continued to carefully sense the runes on the silver blade. Roban could only simulate the earth element because he did not perceive many elements to begin with. But Yang Zhen was different; he could sense all-element elements!
Each element had a different simulation method, and due to the various classifications of elements, there would be forty-five variations of simulation methods. Yang Zhen needed to master them all; for the anti-mage, facing simulated magic meant that even one failure could lead to death!
In the following days, Yang Zhen still ate and lived in the Mage Tower as usual. Geniuses also needed to work hard. He had become deeply immersed in the principles of magical knowledge. Only through diligent study would he realize how much more he needed to learn.
As he mastered multiple elemental simulation theories, Yang Zhen gradually discovered that it had commonalities with the composite scroll techniques he was researching. When creating composite magic scrolls, as long as one element’s rune was simulated into another element, the troublesome issue of elemental repulsion that had been perplexing him could be resolved just like that!
