- Chapter 84 - Song Yu's Shocking Confession
For a moment, my mind went blank, a long ‘beep’ echoing in my head.
I had imagined Song Yu might call me reckless, foolish, or even deserving of my fate. But never did I expect him to say-he liked me.
If Song Yu weren’t standing right in front of me, I’d have thought I was hallucinating.
Why would he like me?
How could that be possible?
Nothing in his previous actions suggested he liked me. Apart from physical possession, I was almost insignificant to him.
Now, with this sudden confession, I couldn’t help but doubt the truth of his words.
After all, Song Yu’s acting skills were impeccable. Even his first love, Nian Hua, couldn’t distinguish between his truths and lies, being completely fooled. What made me any different?
“Song Yu, I admit it was my mistake to provoke Ren Hechuan. I shouldn’t have been so naive to think I could gain something from him, only to end up in danger.”
“I’m grateful you rescued me and sorry you got hurt because of it, but that’s no reason to keep me locked up.”
“You don’t need to tell me lies about liking me to fool me. I won’t be as gullible as before, believing whatever you say and letting you manipulate me.”
The word ‘like’ might sound genuine from anyone else, but from Song Yu, it was absurdly false.
But that’s precisely Song Yu’s strength-crafting a gentle trap, waiting for me to fall in, only to devour me without mercy.
I didn’t know his purpose or why he was so invested in me.
But one thing was clear: Song Yu was as dangerous as Ren Hechuan, and I couldn’t fall in the same place twice.
Song Yu chuckled, agreeing with me, “A lie? Perhaps.”
I frowned, scrutinizing Song Yu. Maybe his acting had improved, because despite knowing his nature, I couldn’t help but be drawn to him.
Without another word, Song Yu turned to leave.
I sat up on the bed, shouting at his back, “Song Yu, how long do you plan to keep me here?”
He paused, not turning around, and said, “When I figure out why I’m doing this, you’ll be free.” With that, he left.
Staring at the closed door, it felt like my heart was locked away too, a deep sense of helplessness enveloping me, wanting to escape but with nowhere to go.
The room was eerily quiet. I looked at the small red light on the TV, a chill running through me. Song Yu not only wanted to confine me but also monitor me constantly.
I didn’t understand why he was doing this, but it certainly wasn’t because he ‘liked me’ as he claimed.
If Song Yu said he’d confine me, he would.
Suddenly, there were a dozen bodyguards in the villa. I almost laughed. Did Song Yu think I was some high-profile criminal to warrant such a grand display?
Despite the bodyguards patrolling in groups, I had to try to leave because I needed medical attention.
I kept quiet symbolically for two days, and on the second evening, Song Yu came back to have dinner with me. He seemed to be in a good mood, so I seized the opportunity to ask, “President Song, you must have cooled off after locking me up for two days. When do you plan to let me go?”
“I’ve been locked up here, healthy in body, but I’m nearly wasted away.”
“I know I was always deliberately provoking you, and I was wrong. I realize my mistake now. From now on, whoever you want me to meet, I’ll meet. I won’t see anyone behind your back again.”
“Do you think that would work?” I negotiated gently, hoping Song Yu would see my sincerity and let me go.
Song Yu put down his chopsticks, looked up at me with a puzzled expression, “Bai Yu, why do you always think about leaving? Isn’t it good here?”
“Living in a big house, served by people every day, comfortably-that’s what you wanted, isn’t it?”
Either I’m foolish, or Song Yu is insane. One of us is definitely not normal, because we are not thinking about the same thing at all.
“Song Yu, are you joking? Your idea of a ‘comfortable life’ is to keep me like a canary at home?”
Song Yu shrugged fearlessly: “That’s not impossible.”
I couldn’t believe my ears that these words were actually coming from Song Yu.
Where was his sense of reason? His fairness?
“Song Yu, you couldn’t possibly have fallen for me, could you?” I said, propping my chin and smiling at him.
“Yes!” Song Yu also stared at me, firmly replying.
The smile on my face froze, and my heart thumped wildly.
Could lies told over and over become the truth?
Although I don’t believe Song Yu could really like me, facing such an undisguised confession still inevitably stirred my heart.
It must be said, Song Yu really knows how to play his cards.
He always manages to disrupt others’ emotions effortlessly, making their heads spin, deeply entangling them while he remains clear-headed.
This tactic used to work very well on me, but not anymore. I won’t be fooled so easily now.
I knew arguing further would lead nowhere, so I changed my strategy: “President Song, I really need to leave here. I need to see a doctor. I had already scheduled an appointment.”
“What illness?” Song Yu’s expression became serious.
“Stomach problems, you know that.” I was supposed to go home to pack some clothes and personal items and then check into the hospital, but Ren Hechuan kidnapped me on the way. It’s been two days now, and the doctor must think I’m dragging my feet again.
After hearing my words, Song Yu’s expression relaxed slightly: “I had already scheduled an appointment for you with a top gastroenterologist from M Country before the new year. He’s finishing a project, and he should be coming to Z Country in about a week to personally attend to your case.”
Song Yu’s efforts to keep me locked up really made me laugh in frustration.
“Song Yu, what exactly did I do to offend you? Just tell me, and I’ll apologize. If that’s not enough, I can even take a bath, burn incense, and write a letter of repentance. Please, stop doing this to me, okay?”
“I told you I like you, and I just want to give you the best, that’s all.” Unlike my confusion, Song Yu appeared completely calm, not feeling he had done anything wrong.
“Okay, you say you like me, but what about me do you like? When did you start liking me? Didn’t you say you had no feelings for me before? How come you suddenly like me now?” I asked a string of questions in frustration, waiting for his answer.
“It was the first time you had dinner with Zhang Jishu,” Song Yu said seriously.
My smile slowly faded, and my eyes blinked rapidly, stunned as I looked at Song Yu. I had just wanted to make things difficult for him and embarrass him, but he actually answered me.
“Boyang Electronic Technology was a project assigned to you, and meeting with Zhang Jishu was perfectly reasonable. But watching you leave the restaurant with him, I started feeling inexplicably jittery. This uncontrollable emotion scared me.”
“At first, I didn’t understand why I felt that way, so I tried to stay away from you, to not see you. But the more I did that, the more I thought about you, until on Christmas Eve, I did something so absurd in the dark that even I couldn’t believe it.”
“Then you used Chi Jin to unilaterally end our relationship, and I felt betrayed. I absolutely would not allow such a thing to happen, and then in the car…”
Song Yu paused and sighed deeply, “After that incident, I thought physical satisfaction might temporarily alleviate the crazy obsession in my heart, but it didn’t work out. I could only continue to restrain my emotions, not wanting to hurt you anymore.”
“Later, as you took on more and more projects and became increasingly successful, I should have been happy, but instead, I became more and more anxious, even feeling like something of mine was being coveted.”
“This pathological possessiveness tortured me every day. The more I tried to suppress it, the more uncontrollable it became, until the moment you showed up with Ren Hechuan’s business card. That’s when I knew I was finished.”
“You ask why I like you, I honestly don’t know. So, I need to keep you by my side until I figure it out, until I know how to deal with these feelings, and then I will let you go.”
“So–”
“Until then, you can’t go anywhere. You can only stay by my side.”
The things Song Yu had said really moved me, but what followed shocked my entire outlook.
It turns out he sees me as a key to unlock his own heart.
This is just like the plot in the movie “Green Snake1“, where Fa Hai uses Xiao Qing to lure himself and then enhance his own spiritual concentration.
Song Yu is the same; he’s used to controlling everything, including emotions. Now, because of me, he’s controlled by these inexplicable emotions, which he’s not used to. So, he ties me to him, letting himself gradually adapt and control these emotions, until he can take back the dominant position.
That’s Song Yu’s real motive.
Wow, I have to say, this move is very Song Yu.
“So, you’re really not planning to let me go?” I asked him coldly.
Song Yu didn’t say anything, but the answer was clear.
“Fine! Have it your way!” I stood up and walked towards the upstairs bedroom.
Song Yu is a madman, and a highly efficient one at that. When he says he’ll do something, he does it. I can’t outmaneuver him, so my only hope is to rely on Chi Jin.
Chi Jin should be returning to Z Country soon. Once he realizes I’m missing, he’ll definitely confront Song Yu, and then I’ll be free.
Song Yu didn’t continue eating either; instead, he followed me upstairs. As I heard his footsteps approaching, I couldn’t help but feel a bit anxious.
Just as I was about to open the bedroom door, Song Yu pressed it shut with his hand.
“Come to the study with me, keep me company while I work,” he ordered, leaving no room for negotiation.
I took a shaky breath, tilted my head to look at him, and forced a smile through clenched teeth, “Alright!”
I assumed that accompanying Song Yu while he worked meant we’d each do our own thing, like last time, without disturbing each other. However, once we entered the study, just as I was about to lie down on the sofa to sleep, he called me over.
“Come here!” Song Yu beckoned from his desk.
I hesitated but obediently walked over.
“Sit here!” Song Yu patted his thigh.
He was wearing thin silk pajamas, just like me. Sitting on his lap would be…?
I stared at his legs, not moving.
“Turn on the computer for me!” Song Yu gestured to the power button on his left.
Oh, right, Song Yu’s left shoulder was still in a cast, making it difficult for him to move.
He could have just asked me to turn on the computer, no need to sit on his lap.
I stepped forward, leaned over to press the power button, and as soon as I did, Song Yu pulled me into his arms, seating me on his lap.
“Song Yu, what are you doing? I’ve already… turned it on, let me go…” I squirmed, trying to stand up, but the familiar physiological reaction made me freeze.
The computer screen lit up.
I took several deep breaths, trying to calm myself, “Song Yu, I’m not in the mood for your games. If you’re not worried about injuring your shoulder again, keep going.”
The implication was clear: if he didn’t let me go, I wouldn’t care about his shoulder injury.
Before, I couldn’t fight him, but now with one arm incapacitated, the outcome might be different.
Song Yu scoffed dismissively, then said seriously, “What games? My shoulder’s injured, I can’t do much work, so I need you to help me.”
“What are you imagining?”
I glared at him, clearly unwilling.
Come on, his left shoulder’s injured, but his right hand works perfectly fine. Does he really think I’m too dumb to see through his lies?
Just as I was about to unleash a barrage of words at him, Song Yu suddenly touched my abdomen and chuckled softly, “No one has ever touched my computer before. You’re the first. Aren’t you curious about what’s inside?”
“Who cares-” I stopped mid-word.
Wait, this is Song Yu’s computer.
There must be confidential information inside, maybe even the ledger Chi Jin mentioned.
“Alright then, what should I do? Enter the password first?” I asked.
Song Yu’s voice trembled slightly, “880125!”
“You…!” I closed my eyes and started typing the numbers on the keyboard, hitting the third digit as Song Yu’s hand also reached the third.
“What next?” I gritted my teeth and continued.
It wasn’t like we hadn’t done this before, but having the chance to look at Song Yu’s computer like this, I couldn’t waste it.
“Open it!”
“Open what!” I was about to lose it.
“My computer.”
I swallowed hard and clicked open ‘My Computer’.
“And then?”
“Access the O drive!”
Damn your O drive, where is there an O drive?
But upon closer inspection, there really was one-it was custom-named by him.
Obediently, I clicked on it, by this time the sweat on my back had soaked through my clothes.
“Sweating so much?” Song Yu asked with a chuckle.
My face contorted in pain, my breathing disheveled, “What’s the password for the O drive?”
“020508!”
Just as I was about to enter the password, I realized-wasn’t this my birthday?
May 8, 2002.
And that earlier one, 880125… could that be Song Yu’s birthday?
“Ah-” I let out a short scream, turning back and glaring fiercely at Song Yu.
“Getting distracted at work?” Song Yu’s expression remained calm, his breathing undisturbed.
My teeth ground side to side, curses roaming around in my mouth.
Song Yu smirked triumphantly, tilting his chin at me, “Continue, open the first folder.”
I forced myself to calm down and clicked open the O drive.
I thought there would be some business documents, but it was all short videos. And the person in the thumbnails-it was me!
“Song Yu, you-uh-” My attempt to confront him was cut off by his look.
“Just watch,” he commanded in a hoarse voice.
Holding back my anger, I randomly clicked on one; it was from that night, both of us by the window…
I felt my hair stand on end. Then I opened another, and it was all videos of us making love in Song Yu’s bedroom, all recorded.
Song Yu had saved my everyday appearances in that room on his computer, meaning he could watch them anytime.
“Song Yu, you… you’re shameless, you… you actually… ah…”
Song Yu chuckled lowly, “Look, it’s quite nice, isn’t it?”
“I… won’t watch!” I struggled to hold the mouse and clicked the exit button, “The computer… it’s done, can I… can I go now?”
I was really killing myself with stupidity, how could Song Yu let me see the account book.
“Aren’t you sure you don’t want to look at the other files?” Song Yu’s breathing hastened.
I had no interest in checking anything else.
“You… let go… let me go! I won’t look!” I desperately tried to wrestle Song Yu’s hand away, trying to escape from the computer desk.
However-
I was still too naive, always unable to escape from the palm of Song Yu’s hand.
I lay on the desk, gasping for air, as Song Yu scooped me up…
