The people in the Law Department naturally recognized Liang Jingtang, and the place erupted into a frenzy.

“Isn’t that Liang Jingtang, the top-ranked lawyer with the highest net worth? He’s even more handsome than on TV, such a noble aura!”

“Why is he with Yu Nuanxin? They’re chatting and laughing together!”

A few exchanged glances, filled with dissatisfaction towards her. Initially, she often treated them to meals and karaoke, making them think she was genuinely nice. It later became clear she was trying to win them over to isolate Yu Nuanxin.

Nangong Yao sat down with an air of elegance and grace, a faint smile on his face as he glanced at Yu Nuanxin. “Is Lawyer Yu a friend of Lawyer Liang? How come I’ve never heard of such a remarkable friend? Not recommending someone so talented to the company seems a bit unfair, don’t you think?”

To Yu Nuanxin, his words sounded more like, “Didn’t you say you and Liang Jingtang were just friends? Now he’s here, what more is there to explain? Such a fickle woman!”

She lowered her head and replied awkwardly, “I haven’t had the chance to meet you, President.”

Liang Jingtang quickly sensed the tension between the two. It was clear Nangong Yao wasn’t here just for him. However, not knowing the full story, he remained composed, observing quietly.

“Lawyer Liang, you’re quite the celebrity. I’ve sent people to invite you several times, yet you declined the position of Lawyer Supervisor, as if Global isn’t worth your time. If it weren’t for your appointment with Lawyer Yu, you wouldn’t have set foot in Global, would you?”

“Mr. Nangong, you’ve misunderstood. I’ve just been too busy to spare the time.”

“Busy people still find time to chat, or is it that business at the whiskey firm is slow these days?”

Yu Nuanxin shot him a quick glare. Did he have to be so harsh? If someone else said Global’s business was slow, how would he feel?

“There’s nothing pressing at the whiskey firm. If Mr. Nangong doesn’t mind, perhaps you could offer me a position at Global?”

Yu Nuanxin felt as if she’d been struck by lightning, looking up in shock. Yet Liang Jingtang remained calm, smiling serenely.

Nangong Yao hadn’t expected such a proposal. For this woman, he was willing to go this far?

But he hid his surprise well, smiling slightly. “The doors of Global are always open for you. However, the Supervisor position is already filled. We could always use another Lawyer, though I’m not sure if Lawyer Liang would be willing to take a lesser role…”

His words were polite on the surface, but underneath, he was challenging him. He wanted to see just how much Liang Jingtang was willing to sacrifice for this woman.

“I appreciate Mr. Nangong’s offer, and I’d be delighted,” Liang Jingtang agreed without hesitation.

Yu Nuanxin’s mind was still spinning, unable to comprehend how all this had happened. How had he so readily become an employee at Global, and just an ordinary one at that?

Nangong Yao was naturally frustrated, but he didn’t show it. Instead, he smiled politely and shook hands with Liang Jingtang, full of sincerity. “Welcome aboard! I have work to attend to, so I won’t disturb your meal any longer.” As he turned to leave, his expression darkened, a storm brewing beneath the surface.

Witnessing the dramatic scene, everyone was left speechless. The only thing clear in their minds was that Global would soon have another heartthrob in its midst.

It seemed another storm was about to brew.
