100 Days with the Contract Lover - Chapter 96 - Stolen Kiss
Ever since Yu Nuanxin joined Global, Nangong Yao found himself developing a peculiar habit. Every time he finished work, he would unconsciously head to the office entrance to catch a glimpse of her, yet he didn’t want her to notice. Sometimes he found it amusing; it was his company, after all, so why was he sneaking around like a thief?
She was an incredibly diligent employee, often working overtime until ten at night. Although Yu Linglong was deliberately making things difficult for her, her own efforts couldn’t be overlooked. This was something he genuinely admired.
The thought of seeing her soon made him inexplicably excited, his steps quickening involuntarily. But this time, he didn’t see her usual hardworking figure at the small desk. The office was shrouded in darkness.
Had she gone home?
His previously bright eyes dimmed slightly, but he didn’t show any sign of disappointment as he turned to leave.
Yu Nuanxin and Liang Jingtang exited the elevator, chatting and laughing as they headed towards the underground parking lot, discussing where to eat. “At this hour, not many restaurants are open. How about we go to a diner?”
“Sounds good!”
“Uh… this area is mostly financial buildings, not many small eateries around. Why don’t we head to the street market on West City? Their Spicy Crayfish is quite famous; it’s been ages since I last had it…”
“Sure!”
“You really have a great temperament, agreeing to everything I say.”
Liang Jingtang smiled at her. As long as he was with her, did it matter what they ate? He stopped in front of a Maybach, “Hop in!”
Yu Nuanxin widened her eyes at the sleek and stylish car, “Did you change cars? Wasn’t your Audi still quite new? I saw on TV a few days ago that this car is a global limited edition, costing millions! Even though you’re a gold medal lawyer, isn’t this a bit extravagant?”
“Is it? I didn’t know!” Liang Jingtang shrugged, nonchalant. Given his wealth, this car was just a drop in the ocean, hardly worth her surprise.
But this was good; many women were with him for his money. If she saw him merely as a lawyer, it ruled out that possibility! Of course, he never considered her a gold digger. To him, she was special.
In a world so harsh and tainted, she was like a lotus emerging from clear water, untainted by the mud. He wanted to protect her innocence, her kindness.
As Nangong Yao entered the underground parking lot, he saw Yu Nuanxin and Liang Jingtang playfully getting into the car. She had never laughed so joyfully in front of him, her whole being seemed to radiate happiness. He clenched his fist tightly, his gaze cold and intense.
Not satisfied with a new lover, she had to ‘juggle’ the old one too? She was indeed a formidable woman, dealing with one man today and another tomorrow. Would she die without a man?
It seemed the ‘pressure’ he had given her wasn’t enough, allowing her the leisure to meet lovers.
He would show no mercy towards her!
…
Yu Nuanxin led the way, taking Liang Jingtang to the bustling street market in West City for a feast. Naturally, Liang Jingtang ended up paying the bill. In his book, women never paid, but she was the first to insist on paying, leaving him both amused and helpless.
The Maybach came to a gentle stop in front of the apartment building where it had previously parked. Liang Jingtang turned to look at Yu Nuanxin and found that she had fallen asleep. She had been exhausted lately, evident from the faint dark circles under her eyes and her slightly gaunt face. Her petite face was nestled within her tousled hair, making her look pitifully delicate.
She hadn’t rested well for a long time, sleeping deeply like a baby, breathing evenly. It almost melted his heart, making him want to hold her close and protect her.
He knew that given his current circumstances, he wasn’t suited for romance. For the past few years, he hadn’t had a serious girlfriend. Any physical needs were addressed through other means.
He thought he had lost interest in women. When the time came, he would let his family arrange a marriage with someone whose personality and family matched his own. It turned out he wasn’t uninterested; he just hadn’t met someone who piqued his interest.
Ever since she appeared in his world, it was as if his dormant senses had suddenly awakened, bringing forth various feelings. His happiness was no longer derived solely from professional achievements but also from her. In fact, she made him happier than his work did.
Perhaps love truly begins with a feeling. There might indeed be someone who makes you feel differently. Even without conversation or laughter, just looking at her brings joy. And that joy isn’t because she’s stunningly beautiful, has a great figure, or is exceptionally talented. It’s simply because of the budding anticipation in his heart.
The more he looked at her, the more Liang Jingtang felt a strong attachment and affection for her, unable to resist reaching out to gently caress her cheek.
Her skin was smooth, like satin, with a delightful touch that made him reluctant to let go. He felt such fondness that he didn’t know what to do, wishing he could merge her into his being and cherish her completely.
Once the seed of affection sprouts, it grows wildly. Just touching her cheek no longer satisfied the overwhelming desire within Liang Jingtang. Gazing at her delicate, slightly parted lips, his mind went blank. Without knowing what he was doing, he leaned in to kiss her.
His throat was dry, fingers gripping the seat tightly, his body trembling intensely.
He had never been this nervous before, as if his heart was about to leap out of his chest.
Thump-thump-
It beat rapidly!
His heart was on the verge of collapsing under the strain!
But just as he was about to kiss her lips, two glaring headlights suddenly illuminated from the opposite direction, aimed directly at his car.
The light was blindingly bright, piercingly so. Liang Jingtang raised a hand to shield his eyes, vaguely seeing a stern-faced man sitting in the car opposite. The man stared coldly at him, as if venting his anger, and pressed the horn.
“Beep-beep-beep-beep-”
It seemed like a deliberate provocation!
Yet he couldn’t make out the man’s face, only feeling an intense threat that seemed to pierce through him.
Perhaps it was just his imagination?
