Summary
One night at the palace, I became drunk and lost my virginity.
Only two men had entered my chamber that evening: the crown prince and a lowly stable slave.
In my previous life, I couldn’t tell which one it had been.
My elder sister gave a quiet cough. The crown prince sighed and said it was him.
And so I married into the Eastern Palace.
We treated each other with every courtesy. In secret, I congratulated myself on finding good fortune in a disaster.
Until the day my sister married, when the crown prince murmured drunkenly, “I regret it. I should never have let her persuade me to help you. You should have been calling me Brother-in-law.”
Afterward, he turned cold. In bed, though, he was cruel and brutal.
“Why are you crying? A body that’s been touched by a stable slave can withstand this.”
The pain in my abdomen became unbearable. I miscarried, fell gravely ill, and died.
When I opened my eyes again, the crown prince was about to confess.
I stepped forward, pointed to the powerfully built stable slave, and said softly, “I remember now. It was him.”
