Summary
When Grandmother was young, she had wronged a gentleman of the Wei family. The guilt had never left her.
To make amends, she promised my elder sister to the Wei family.
But my sister already loved someone else. She begged and pleaded, and I could not bear to see her suffer for love.
So I agreed to marry in her place.
After the wedding, I went to Qingzhou with Wei Xun. My sister never again saw the young man who had given her a flower lantern.
Then I returned to the capital to visit my family.
The moment they met, both lost their composure.
Only then did I realize that I was the one who had torn them apart.
Yet my sister said she did not blame me, and Wei Xun swore he would never fail me as long as he lived.
But when I was given a second life, and my sister once again held out her wedding gown to me, I shook my head.
“Sister, you should marry him yourself.”
