Summary
The day the bridal apartment was finished, Cen Zhaoning went to the property office to register her face for the door, only to learn that the home she had spent half a year renovating with her own hands did not belong to her fiancé, Liang Xubai. It belonged to his younger brother, Liang Ji’an. The three hundred-odd thousand she had spent on the renovation, the seventeen days of leave she had taken, the whole half-year of effort she had poured into it, all of it had gone into doing up someone else’s house, and the Liang family had known it from the very beginning.
She did not cry or make a scene. She gathered up the bank statements, the chat logs and the recordings one by one, and settled the accounts to their faces at the dinner table where the two families had met to discuss the wedding.
After Liang Ji’an’s girlfriend, Song Wanzhen, sent her screenshots exposing the real plan, finish the renovation first and then list the place for sale, Cen Zhaoning made her choice: she pulled out the furniture, cancelled the wedding, sent a lawyer’s letter, and made the Liang family sign a debt acknowledgement.
